Magic Kingdom: Pirates League & Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party

I’m continuing to recap our Thanksgiving trip to Disney World, the Disney Dream Cruise and visiting family in Tampa. One of our very best days was spent in the Magic Kingdom celebrating John’s 9th birthday a little early. He didn’t know that we were continuing on for a cruise, so he completely reveled in all of the fun!DSC_0278DSC_0281

We slept in a little and enjoyed breakfast with bestie M and her family before heading onto the park to meet Sister and her family for lunch at Be Our Guest!!!

Afterwards we hit up our fast passes for Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain.

And then we played a full game of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom!! The boys were thrilled because we usually don’t have time to do this.

Our next stop was a surprise and something I’ve wanted to do for the littles for a very long time… The Pirates League!!

We went full hog and let them select not just their makeup, but costumes too (you can bring your own if you have them). I knew we’d be able to wear them for Pirate Night on the Disney Dream Cruise a few days later as well. After making their choices, we were escorted to a dressing room to begin the transformation.

Once they were appropriately dressed, they were each invited to spin the wheel and then reference the book of pirate names to find out their destiny. Meet Lawrence Starcastle…

At this point we were ushered back into the pirate’s lair to wait for makeup.

Everything in here was so perfectly pirate. The pictures were crooked and the room was mysterious. They loved every second!!

They each received a velvet booty bag with a pirate scarf too.

Now it was time to receive their sashes and swords and to make their pirate oath.

The last stop was into the treasure room where they received gold coin necklaces and their official pirate pledge signed by Captain Jack Sparrow.

This was a once in a lifetime experience and I cannot recommend it enough. It took a good hour and a half and was so unique and memorable. The boys literally stopped people in their tracks the rest of the day. If you have a daughter that has outgrown the Bippity Boppity Boutique – or is just looking for something different – I saw a precious mermaid transformation. I think she came in her Ariel costume. So darling! Put this on your bucket list friends!!

Back out in the park we hit the afternoon Move It Shake It street party parade…

And then we dined at the Plaza Restaurant for the first time. It was SUPER yummy and affordable!!! My burger was delish and it was nice to sit and relax for a bit.

After dinner it was time for our Seven Dwarves Mine Train fast pass. It was fun to ride at night since we’d only done it during the day before.

And then we did a few consecutive runs on the People Mover – Honey and Whit’s favorite ride in the World.

At this point it was finally time for the last surprise of the night and another new experience for us… The Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party.

The event starts an hour before the fireworks and features loads of yummy all-you-can-eat desserts, ice cream sundaes, lemonade, water and coffee…

…and a spectacular view of the castle.

The boys were literally in heaven!

If you’re curious, you can just see the tops of the Main Street Electrical Parade going by from this vantage point.

And this is what the hub construction looks like at this point.

Do you see the little twinkle in the sky over the castle? That, my friends, is Tinkerbell flying right over head!!

DSC_0428

Here she is again just as the fireworks are starting! It gave me chills.

Before we knew it, the night was lit up in a spectacular fireworks display.

It was the most magical way to end a splendid Disney day! If you go, know that tables are pre-assigned based on when you make your reservations (180 days in advance), so there is no need to get there hours early for a better seat. Some tables are set further back, but that isn’t an issue because everyone moves to the rail once the show starts.

With that, we made our way to the exit and picked up the darling Mickey elf popcorn buckets for the bus ride home.

DSC_0453

I can’t imagine a better place to spend a birthday. John received hundreds of birthday wishes and grinned from ear to ear all day. We are going to have to figure out a way to take Whit for a birthday one year!

See ya real soon, Magic Kingdom!

  3. Pirates League is hands down one of my kids fave things they have done at WDW. Landry did the mermaid and did enjoy it more than BBB. I have never done the dessert party but def want to try it out one day! Love the trip report. Natalie
