Well, Ida-Clair

One of the amazing things this little blog sometimes brings my way is a darling company or product that I likely never would have known existed were it not for Dixie Delights.  And it brings me a lot of joy to share these fabulous finds with y’all!  Today I’d like to introduce y’all to a precious brand with a fantastic product: ida-clair, home of crochet trimmed accessories and apparel with a unique southern flair, based in Auburn, Alabama.

The only thing I love more than a company with a well made, unique product is a company with a well made, unique product that has a wonderful story behind it and a heart for others.  Let me share with you a sliver of the ida-clair story so that you too can fall in love with them…

Samantha Bradshaw and Karen Snyder are best friends and neighbors, born and raised in the South.  A friend told them she needed boot socks and asked if they could help her out. Never ones to walk away from a challenge, Samantha and Karen started brainstorming, which led to the beautiful and delicate creation of crochet-trimmed boot socks.  To make their amazing handiwork more personal and distinctive, they chose their favorite crochet patterns, and today all of their trim is HAND crocheted.

At the same time this incredible creative idea was developing … Samantha and three friends were forming a non-profit organization to benefit their children with Down Syndrome.  The duo quickly recognized that their accidental company had been formed for a greater purpose… to raise money for this foundation.  And now ida-clair donates a portion of their proceeds to this non-profit organization – “Blessings on the Plains” – that is very close to the founders’ hearts.  As either one will tell you, “You may think that by giving back…we bless these children’s hearts, but the reality is – THEY BLESS OURS.”

Samantha and Karen were kind enough to share FOUR pairs of their hand crochet trimmed Soxie Lou boot socks with me.  I promptly divvied them up… one for me, one for Sister, two for CeeCee (of course) and carted my little crew out to a local green space for a lovely fall morning outdoors followed by lunch at Chicken Salad Chick.

The red and white polka dot with medium crochet trim was darling with her colorful outfit and will be perfection for Christmas all the way through Valentine’s Day.

Sister and I were both swooning over the light pink with small crochet trim.  They are classic and flirty and just so darn cute!

Sister played photographer for a while while I told secrets to the little one.  I absolutely adore my Mary Alice socks and will be wearing them all fall with my wellies, cowboy boots AND riding boots.

I don’t know if I’ve shared this before, but Sister is an expert on a myriad of subjects.  I’m not even kidding.  The girl has a photographic memory and just knows things.  So when she said these are the best made boot socks she’s ever had, I am an immediate believer :-)

I hope y’all will pop on over and check out ida-clair.  I know you’ll love them!

    1. Believe it or not, I actually met one of the Ida-Clair ladies at AmericasMart today. We agreed that Cee Cee is the cutest model!

  1. Oh my goodness! The boot socks are adorable and so are y’all! What a great story behind the company as well. I clicked over because I want to order my niece (age 23) the ones you are wearing Amanda, but couldn’t find them on their site. I’m not sure if I’m just looking in the wrong spot. Thanks for showcasing a great company.

  2. Ooh! Love the boot socks and I think I just found a fantastic Christmas gift for my 11 year old. The photos of you and Miss Cee Cee are precious, she’s a beautiful little girl and your sister dresses her so cute, (love your leopard vest too). I’m making your loaded baked potato soup tonight for dinner on this “Winnie the Pooh very blustery day”. Hope you have a wonderful week and Happy Halloween! P.S. Our Kroger here in Dublin has the dog and cat Halloween skeleton decorations like you bought for your porch, just in case you need another skeleton dog.

  3. Cute pictures! Wish I had these boot socks for my daughter for our upcoming photos. Would love to know the pretty place you took these photos (if it isn’t a secret!). We are trying to decide where to have ours done this Sunday.
