Musings

Ahhhh… at long last a dump of all the nonsense floating around in my brain and from my phone…

Elsa loves nothing more than chasing squirrels.  She was going crazy at the window one morning when I peeked out expecting to see one of our bushy tailed devils and what to my wondering eyes did appear, but THIS!

I adore my Hunter wellies, but could not resist these pink Sperry duck boots from the girls section at Belk.  They were $50 on sale and I checked out with them lickety split.

My totally legit, non-staged, real life grocery list got regrammed by Southern Living.  Color me excited!!!!!  If you’re curious, the Supplies to Satisfy is by Lilly Pulitzer and was a gift from bestie M.

I’ve had these napkins for eons and really wish I wasn’t on my last two.  I laughed off every calorie from this mini cupcake …

One of the items on my 40×41 bucket list is to become a regular somewhere.  I’m trying out places around the house.  Starbucks is currently the front runner, but I’m not quite sold.  More to come on this one….  Oh, and John and I continue to make our way through the Harry Potter series.  He’s on book 4.  I’m on book 2.

When the littles went back to school this week I forced myself to trade in the donuts and waffles for something much healthier.  My standard greek yogurt, fruit, granola and honey fare is back…

Two things about this pic.  1) Head over to the Vineyard Vines whale of a sale for 40% off right now!  I picked up this plaid shirt, a pullover for John and Christmas jammies for the littles for next year.  2) My first fortune cookie in ages had no fortune.  Hmmm…. is that an invitation to choose your own adventure?

Back to the 40×41 bucket list, I’m STILL trying to master pancake making.  Honey has gotten MANY laughs out of my multiple attempts.  This weekend’s was yet another #fail.  The good news is I still have 14 months to go….

I’m not sure what I’m going to do when I have to retire this outfit for the season.  It’s so old but so good.

John is playing goalie for an indoor box lacrosse team.  It’s fast paced, fun to watch and even more fun to play (says the boy), but it stinks to high heaven in this place.  I, for one, am looking forward to the return of outdoor sports.  Boys are way too stinky to be cooped up inside.

We’re doing Christmas with Honey’s family tonight so I made my Sunday Supper last night.  It’s a good one that I can’t wait to share!

  1. Love love musings posts! And I second you about the boy smell at indoor sports – it smells HORRIBLE where we do karate. Boys, sweat & feet! ?

  2. Wow, that is a big buck! The squirrels drive our Cairn crazy!! Adore those Sperry’s. My oldest can wear kid sizes and always finds fun things for less. That is the one thing I hated about the girls figure skating, the days practice followed a hockey game. EWWWWW!!!

  3. Amanda,

Try the Pioneer Woman’s perfect pancake recipe. It is literally the key to your perfect pancakes. Some other tips…You must have a medium hot griddle. Just before you pour the batter on the griddle, you MUST rub butter on it. This will give that nice pancake crust in the perfect golden color. The key to knowing when to turn the pancake is when the edges begin to look set and you see a few bubbles popping up on the top side. Each side of the pancake hits the griddle one time only and the first side will cook a bit longer than the second. In my opinion, these are the most important rules of a pretty and delicious pancake. You won’t be disappointed.

    Good Luck!

  4. On the pancakes, I use a light spray of nonstick oil on the griddle, and wait to flip them until they start bubbling in the middle. That’s the ONLY way my attempts are successful :)

  5. I have that same plaid Christmas dress. I will have to replace the buttons before next year but I refer to let it go. Such a prefect Christmas dress!

  6. I follow Southern Living and gasp when I saw they “regramed” you! I actually said out loud “Wow! Good for her! She’ll be so excited!”

    Way to go gal!
