I {Heart} You

I love surprising the littles with sweet afternoon treats.  This hot chocolate with a cool whip heart has been one of my go-tos for years now.  And, given the frigidly cold temps we’ve had this week, it was the perfect week for it.

It’s so simple and I do them for St. Patrick’s Day too!  Here’s how:

  1. Thaw your tub of cool whip in the fridge overnight.
  2. Stir in a few drops of food coloring.
  3. Line a 8×8″ square pan with parchment or foil.  Spoon in the colored cool whip.
  4. Refreeze.  Lift the parchment from the pan and use a cookie cutter slightly smaller than the size of your mug to cut the shapes.  If needed, use a knife to gently lift the shapes and slide on top of your hot chocolate.
  5. Easy peasy and SO yummy!

My littles also ADORE homemade pretzels.  And by “homemade”, I totally mean from a box mix.  I shaped them into hearts this week and found it even easier than trying to make a pretzel knot :-).

Now, speaking of hot chocolate and things I love, my new Keurig is right at the tippy top of my list.  Hello, lover.  More to come on that.

The baby is doing his Valentine exchange today, and John’s is Friday.  I think we are going to make a good, fancy din din at home Saturday night to celebrate.  I’m still trying to do decide if we invite the littles or relegate them to the upstairs :-)

  1. LOVE those pretzels!
Here is what you have to look forward to…MY HUSBAND AND I are being relegated to the upstairs so our oldest “little” can have a fancy dinner with his girlfriend!

  2. I totally just bought that coffee maker, thank you for the share! I have been looking for a new one for months & that sandy pearl is just divine!!! Mwah!!!

  3. Looking forward to your review. I’m thinking of getting the same Keurig in white but I’ve been seeing mixed reviews, especially in water temperature.

  4. Amanda,Those mugs are precious!! Where did you buy those?? Hope you and your family have a lovely weekend! Hugs,Elaine

    1. I made them. I had planned to list in my etsy shop before Valentine’s Day but that didn’t happen. Hopefully by Christmas :-)

    1. I use two. One is Fleishmans (I’m sure I spelled that wrong) and the other is Aunty Anne’s. Both are at my Publix on the cake mix aisle.
