It’s so very odd to do things at school with the baby that we did three years prior with his brother. I mean, he really was a baby then. Sigh.
Along with a fantastic group of parent volunteers, I helped transition the classroom to a pink, purple and green explosion of tulle, fake flowers and wedding bells. I mean, the look on the kids’ faces as they arrived the next morning was priceless. This, my friends, is what seven year old wedding dreams are made of.
The premise behind the event is that the letters Q and U are essentially wed together – a partnership, a team. Whit’s line sums it up well:
There is just one letter that cannot make a sound unless a helper is around. You will never see a Q without a U. They are partners through and through!!!!
Every detail of the wedding was meticulously thought out, planned for, rehearsed and executed. It was truly impressive! The groomsmen dressed as quarterbacks, and the bridesmaids as queens. The flower girl dropped quarters as she walked down the purple aisle and the “vowel family” was prominently represented in the front row. All of the kids have a role and it really a darling little event!
My team of parents was also in charge of the reception. We had SEVENTY in attendance between the students, parents, grandparents, siblings and other guests of honor. It was incredible!!
Whit had such a fun time with the “quarterbacks.” It just all flies by so quickly!
I’m super proud of my baby – today and every day!
And, hats off to his teacher that makes learning SO MUCH FUN. Want to know what’s next on their agenda? “Contraction Surgery”! I’ve never seen this one before :-)

That’s crazy! I bet the little queens were in heaven because it looked so real! I had forgotten all about that little wedding and so glad to see it again. The contraction surgery will be interesting. :-)
Have an amazing time here on the west coast. It’s going to be a little chilly next week so I guess you’ll just have to buy Disney sweatshirts. ;-) I am so excited for you to walk through those gates! May yourbfamily have a joyful and safe vacation.
