Spring Break Essentials

With spring break on my my mind and a big trip around the corner, I’ve been lining up all of my beach and pool essentials for some serious fun in the sun!!

  • scallop bikini  – I was so happy to find this super cute suit at Old Navy after admiring similar options at much higher price points!  It also has straps (necessary at age 40) but note that it isn’t lined (usually this is a deal breaker for me but I couldn’t pass this up).
  •  sunglasses  – I love my Lilly sunnies to the sun and back.  There are currently two cute prints available.
  •  water bottle  – Bestie E gave me this for my birthday and I can’t wait to tote it with me everywhere I go this spring and summer.  It’s a much cuter look that my Yeti cup and it won’t spill!
  •  babyganics sunscreen* – Our whole family has been converted to babyganics sunscreen.  We use the lotion for full body coverage and the sticks for faces.  A reader recently asked how I never get sunburned and I think I forgot to answer…  In a nutshell, I just tan almost immediately.  I also wear both moisturizer and mineral makeup with sun protection every.single.day.  Hats give me a headache so I always sit under an umbrella is that is an option.
  • towel  – I originally debuted these in my powder room, but quickly decided they were much better suited for the beach bag.  Mine are from Nordstrom but I just saw an almost identical towel at Target. The monogram was designed by Number Four Eleven.
  •  towel clips – After too many years of sharing ONE set of towel clips between Honey and myself I finally got my own set.  Yay!!
  •  beach read (c/o) – Celia Riverbark sent me a whole lot of her hysterical and so-southern books for my trip. I cannot wait to dig in.  Spring Break is hardly a break without a bag full of reads.
  •  sailcloth tote (c/o) – Hayden Reis let me pick out a tote of my choice and this precious flamingo pouch had me smitten.  I love that it is virtually indestructible, extremely lightweight, water and sand resistant, and very easy to clean.  It tucks right inside my beach bag!!
  • chapstick – Lilly gift with purchase!
  • phone case – might come to the shop after I give it a good test drive

I am literally giddy with excitement.  Spring Break 2016 is going to be hard to top!!  Here’s to hoping my nasty allergy-related sinus issues hit the road before we do…

xoxo

  1. So many CUTE things. I am getting ready to go to Balboa Island in Newport Beach and I just posted my beach essentials last night (simplysantabarbara.blogspot.com). Since Newport Beach is about 15 minutes away from Anaheim, my family and I will be going to Disneyland, too. I cannot wait!
    Best regards,
    Michelle from simply santa barbara

  2. You will be the cutest, little beach bunny out there! Have a wonderful time. Hmmm….wonder if you’re headed to “Some Beach.” :-) Happy Easter to all of you! Please, oh, please tell me whatever became of CeeCee’s birthday photos? I simply can’t go on without them!

  3. P.S. I laughed out loud when I saw the title of that book! I will be on the lookout for Celia Rivenbark on my next trip to the bookstore!

  4. Hi Amanda, I was looking at your Instagram and I clicked on the Catholic hashtag. I don’t use Instagram and I’m not really familiar with it or how it works but I just wanted to let you know that pornographic pictures were amongst the pictures. It was a bit startling to say the least and I thought you might like to know.

  5. You will be the cutest beach bunny! Have a great weekend and blessed Easter. I will look into the books (that look great!) and hope you feel better soon.

  6. Have fun on spring break! You are going to LOVE Celia Rivenbark’s books. She’s been one of my favorite authors for years and I promise you will laugh out loud at her stories. Happy Easter!

  7. Ok, so a big ole fat THANK YOU for turning me on to Celia Rivenbark! I bought one of her books and after reading the first chapter, bought two more. They are hysterical!! I hope you enjoyed yours and your Spring Break!!!
