It’s that time of the year, “may-hem” as I like to call it. School, sports and activities are wrapping up as we sail into summer and, if you’re like me, you’re left scratching your head on what to give for the perfect teacher (or coach) gift! I am so excited to share with y’all my go-to this year… the Why You’re So AWESOME book!
I ordered one for each of the littles’ teachers to go along with a gift card from the class. (This one is just a placeholder.) I used photo corners to attach it to the inside front covers of each book. I can’t think of a better gift for hard working teachers than some extra spending money!
Inside the book there are 50 fill in the blank pages prompting the kids to exclaim their teacher’s awesomeness in many different ways. I spent time in both classrooms yesterday getting them to fill it out. (About half of John’s class did two pages and a few in Whit’s class even did three pages.) It was a lot of fun to hear their answers. Some of them had to really mull it over because I encouraged them to think beyond her being “just an awesome teacher.” Overall, it was a slow go in first grade, but the fourth graders whizzed through. I had them tell me what they were going to write first and then helped with spelling as needed. Each student signed his name at the bottom of his page(s).
The book is under $10 shipped from Amazon, but the kind words and memories are priceless. I so hope that the teachers love them!
I loved them so much, in fact, that I also just ordered the What I Love About Dad version to have the littles complete for Father’s Day next month. It’s just as adorable! (And even cheaper at under $8.50!)
Now, to share something NOT so awesome, the baby was playing with a lacrosse ball in the yard after his baseball game and it popped up and hit him in the eye . It’s some kind of wonder that he made it through 8 seasons of baseball never getting hit and then, five minutes after his last game of the season, he does this to himself. He’s mostly glad that his class already got field day out of the way! There’s nothing worse than having a hurt or sick baby, although I guess we’re doing pretty good that this is our first black eye between the two.
