Daddy-O’s Birthday + Other Musings

Today we’re wishing the one and only Daddy-O the happiest of birthdays!!!!  He’s the patriarch of this crazy family and we love him dearly.  When I spoke with him this afternoon he had eaten lunch at the Crystal Beer Parlor and spent some time at the mothership (Starbucks).  I’m looking forward to a big, in-person Daddy-O hug in a couple of weeks.

In other news, the littles are still in love with Pokemon Go.  They make me hit up the Poke Stop at work every week.  That’s normal, right?

Speaking of work, this is my usual desk sitch.  Monogrammed notebook (I have 4! One for personal stuff, one for work, one for Dixie Delights and one for Disney.), gummy bears, and a Dasani sparkling.

I really love the gummy coke bottles most of all, but ironically, they only sell the regular gummy bears at Coke.  ha!

The baby has hit the pause button on baseball and padded up for his very first season of lacrosse yesterday!  He said he really liked it… but not 2 hours worth of it.  Haha.

Whole Foods had lobster roll day this past week.  They were about as good as I’ve had in Atlanta, but don’t hold a candle to Joe Loves Lobster in Savannah.  I can’t wait to wrap my lips around one of those on our next visit.

I met Sister and her littles at our very favorite haunt for our very favorite taco of the week special…. Cheeseburger Tacos at Taqueria del Sol.  MMMMM.  Lots of food musings this week, huh?

The tiniest bit of puppy craziness has worn off.  Elsa is often found sprawled out in this most unlady like pose.

All of the kids at school make these to hang in the hall at parent night.  I thought Whit’s was one of the most unique ones that have come home.

We’re headed out to celebrate Honey’s brother’s birthday tonight.  We’ve been going non-stop this weekend – lots of celebrations!  I did manage to squeeze in three loads of laundry and a grocery trip though.  Gotta have clean clothes and food on the table now that school is back in.  (All of that is more optional in the summer around here.)

Happy Sunday, y’all!

  1. Happy Birthday, Daddy-O!

Always love musings posts! Hope your week gets off to a great start! xo

  2. Girl, the lobster roll at Dub’s at Ponce City Market is amazing. Best I’ve had outside of Maine. But it also $25. My eyes almost popped out of my head…

    1. The one at whole foods was $9.99 so I guess you get what you pay for :-) I LOVE Joe Loves Lobster rolls in the coastal south. They are $18 and are legit amazing. I’ve never been to Maine but hope to one day! I can’t wait to try Dub’s now!!

      1. I was in Portland, ME for work one November, and I had a lobster roll with so much lobster I could have pulled half of it off for a second roll. Pretty sure it was $5.99. It’s a gorgeous city– would love to go back one day for fun!! But yes, try the one at Dub’s. The oyster po boy was amazing too.

  3. I read somewhere that Southerners say “coke” instead of our Northern “pop”. I loved how you wrote, “gummy coke bottles…gummy bears at Coke.” Thank you for doing the capital letters correctly, so I could understand! :)

  4. I’d love your thoughts on Lobster Roll recipes. I love the idea but every one I have tried (including Barefoot Contessa’s) is way too mayo-based for my liking – a lobster is already so rich. I pinned a recipe to my Pinterest Board that had more of a lemon vinaigrette dressing that sounds good……

  5. Sounds like your weekend was not much of a respite from the hectic pace of the school week. (I cannot believe you are already in your third week back, yikes!) Hope your dad had a wonderful birthday – always love the posts on your extended family. Speaking of lobster rolls and the comments here, I was at the Cape, recently, at a nice beachfront family resort and the luncheon lobster roll was in the twenty five dollar range. Seriously, I could have walked a few feet and tried to catch my own. Obviously, here in New England, this is a great time of year to find the lobster roll on the menu, and, thankfully, there is usually plenty of competition for a fair price. Even though I am no longer heading back to school to teach, I was very impressed with your video on BTS organization. What a wonderful way to lay an early foundation for the future success of your boys.

  6. Here’s wishing your wonderful father a blessed birthday and very happy year ahead! What a guy! Bravo, Daddy-O!!!
