Musings

Happy Friday!!  I just want to take a minute and say how thrilled I am that we only have a couple of lacrosse games on the schedule this weekend.  That’s IT!!!!!!!!!!  Of course, we have 40 bales of pine straw to spread and I’m feeling pretty thankful to have three able bodied boys in the family.  :-)

Speaking of the boys, does anyone else out there have kids obsessed with the Fidget Spinner?  It’s all the rage in the elementary school sector right now.  Like… we had to get on a wait list at a local store and finally just resorted to Amazon.

Bestie S gave me this fun Nora Fleming tray for Christmas and then gave me the birthday cake topper for my birthday!  I LOVE that it holds a candle.  I have already had a few occasions to use it as well. Now, I can’t possibly post this pic without a quick reminder about how yummy these Cheddar Jalapeno Crackers are.  They always go over fabulously and I keep a few rolls in the freezer at all times.

My friend “Lori” hosted a birthday dinner for her son, husband and little old me last month.  I LOVED that she put Pisces on the cake rather than all of our names.  Cute idea!  (I almost never spell out my friends names but the one time I did a while back I spelled it wrong.  Hence why Lori is in quotes.  That’s her new pseudonym.)

CeeCee asked for a tsum tsum autograph book for her Disney girls trip next week and Sister helped me create this darling thing…  It’s so adorable that I’ve listed it in my etsy shop as well.  Of course, I still have the regular version.  My next ship date is May 10.

Elsa is mostly an angel these days but then she goes and does something like this… right after I cleaned out the fridge.  For the record, she apparently doesn’t care for veggie straws.

Bestie M celebrated her birthday last week and hosted a group of girlfriends for a lovely pool side supper.  Look how pretty…  She’s such a great hostess, even when it’s HER birthday.  She ordered takeout from Zoe’s Kitchen and it was a huge hit!

All the summer things have come out to play!!!!!!!!!!!  This current Lilly print is one of my ALL.TIME.FAVES!!!!!!!!!!  The clutch is by Spartina 449 and was a gift from my parents last year.

Honey has found an ingenious way to jump start the big green egg.  He does have an electric starter, but sometimes you just can’t wait to sink your teeth into the BGE burger.

This pic looks gross… I’m sorry… but this dressing from Kroger is SO good.  I don’t regularly shop at Kroger but have been making special trips to get it.

I’ve talked about Monopoly Deal before, but the boys recently dug it out of the game cabinet and we’ve been playing it nightly over dinner.  It is more fun (and much quicker) than the board game version, in our opinion.  One deck is enough for five players.  We sometimes play with the extended family and then you need two decks.

Remember this fabric that I picked up when shopping for my foyer update? Mother said I could mail it to her and that she’d make me a few new pillows for my porch.  Eek!!  So excited!

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for the Ex Voto Vintage bracelet!  It will only take a minute and will ship out in time for Mother’s Day.

Daddy-O is still deep in the recovery process from his knee surgery.  Mother said he’s in a lot of pain but is doing his PT and exercises.  Unfortunately, they won’t make it for Whit’s first communion next week :-(  Please send him some happy thoughts for really turning the corner on healing soon.  <3

  1. Love your musings posts!! Always fun info to peruse! I need to get Monopoly Deal, I think my kids would love it for summer games.

  2. I had to laugh when I saw the picture of that fidget spinner because I was also going to mention them in an upcoming blog post! My boys are obsessed and whenever they play with them somewhere, kids come over to check them out. Too funny. Looks like you have been busy. Hope you Dad is feeling better. Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Yes! They are funny little things aren’t they! I read that they are great for kids that have trouble focusing as it gives their hands something to do. John snuck his into mass on Easter and when I looked over to see WHY he was being so quiet I saw him 100% focused on the homily with the spinner going. I almost took it away but he had it down in his lap and I think it might have been the most focused he’s ever been in mass. And since he was so into the homily, he wasn’t bothering his brother, so his brother was intently listening. I mean, it was a whole trickle down effect :-)

  3. I really love your posts and had a laugh about the fidget spinner and Elsa’s distaste for veggie chips. I laughed out loud a few times. Thanks for the always entertaining and interesting posts.

  4. First, sending your Dad get well wishes and praying that his pain and discomfort will soon be over. I have talked to many people who had knee replacement surgery and its definitely not an easy operation.

I just adore the fabric you choose for your pillows. I know they will look beautiful when your Mother works her magic as she is such a beautiful seamstress. Also, will definitely have to try that White Balsamic & Honey dressing since my husband loves anything with honey.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you! It has definitely been tough. I can’t wait to get the pillow covers. Let me know what you think of the dressing!

    1. Mine have not discovered the cube yet. I saw it in Learning Express and figured it was huge with kids!

  5. God bless you, Daddy O. It may not be as fast as you like and I know you are in pain but try not to get discouraged. Each day, tell yourself that you are one more day closer to healing….that you are getting stronger and that you WILL be better in time. Repeat these affirmations out loud, even if you don’t feel that way. It will soon resonate in your body and brain. I really have been praying for you and hope this week gets a bit easier. Slow and steady, stay the course. Wishing you and Marme smooth sailing from San Diego. :-)

    1. Thanks so much, Jane. I copied and printed out your comment, and I am giving it to Daddy-O. This will help his frame of mind!
      Best, Marme

  6. PS
Just a thought but maybe you can hire an ambulance service to get you to Whit’s service. <3 Thinking of all of you with lots of love during this challenging time.

  7. My 4 year old is obsessed with all things Tsum Tsum and Shopkins lately. I can’t count how many times I have stepped on those things at all hours of the day and night!

I hope your dad is on the mend soon!

  8. Boy, did I ever know that as soon as I sent it! A very proud, respectful and private man, indeed. I was just trying to think of a way to get him there. :-) XOXO

  9. I found fidget spinners at a Vape Shop. Not somewhere I go but saw a post on Facebook that they had them. I reluctantly went in and they had a huge selection and the guys working were super nice. The things we do for our kids!
