Musings

Happy Sunday.  Let’s get today started off right.  haha.  I threw this bottle of cheap wine in the buggy at Trader Joes recently and really liked it.  I want to say it was around $7.  Of course, I liked it so much I am now doubting that price and a little concerned that I misread the label.  At any rate, it was pretty darn good especially if it was $7.

While middle school has me seeing less of John these days, I have spent more time with Whit since he started Kindergarten it feels like.  I think he misses having John around in the afternoons as well.  Every day he comes right in and gets “one thousand licks” from Elsa.

He’s also really into Hamilton!  He loves listening to the sound track with me and knows so many songs.  I’ve found him googling the key players and even reading my big book.

He just finished up his first baseball season after taking about an 18 month break.  He came back to kid pitch and finally started to get his swing back at the end of the season.  He loved playing again and is already excited for the spring season!

I didn’t actually mean to start this little thing called a Friday treat but I did.  It happened the first Friday of school when I was grocery shopping and I picked up some little thing for them… I think tic tacs.  It doesn’t matter – they were both so excited.  So the next Friday when I was at the store I got something different.  On the Friday after report cards I kicked it up a notch and we went for ice cream.  It is now something they really look forward to.  I do too since this is the first school year I haven’t been at work on Fridays and I feel like our family time is fleeing.

I used to always blog about The Bert Show’s Big Thank You but I forgot this year!  We all wrote a couple of letters and I helped sort and prepare them to send off to the troops last week.  This is such a great cause and so easy to do.  <3

I found these super cute shoes at Gap Kids for $20 last week.  I wear a size 6 in womens and a 4 in kids!

I haven’t included John in a whole lot of blog posts and such lately but I did want to brag on the 6th grade orchestra for their first concert.  They were AMAZING!!!  Honey and I were literally blown away.  John is on the cello and seems to enjoy it.

I am loving the new job (follow along here) and just recently told Honey that I haven’t missed Coke for 2 minutes since I left.  (Although I do miss my boss and Honey hit the nail on the head when he said that is because he challenged me A LOT.)  And to think I was so worried about it!  I just had no idea that something so much bigger was in store.  A local client surprised me with this amazing cake as a thank you this week and it brought me to tears (literally).  This work is rewarding in so many ways that my office job was not – even in such simple ways as receiving the nicest thank you notes.  I made the “top 15” in sales for my agency last month and just feel incredibly thankful that I’ve had this opportunity and so excited to see how it all continues to unfold!!  THANK YOU to all of you that have entrusted your trips to me since July.  It has been such  joy!

I hope y’all have a fantastic day.  Make it delightful… :-)

  1. I love the idea of Friday treats – we do this on the way home from co-op on Mondays. We started just because they were STARVING after class, but now it’s a sweet spot in our week that we all look forward to.

So happy to hear how things are turning out after Coke! It’s funny, isn’t it, how we have seldom have any vision beyond what’s literally right in front of us. So happy for you that this has turned out so wonderfully! xo

  2. These middle school years really fly by! Enjoy every minute with them – as if I need to tell you! Thanks for the wine recommendation! I am always looking out for good inexpensive ones! Enjoy your week!

  3. I have to say I am not surprised one bit that God’s plan for you was greater than you could ever imagine! I love reading about all your Disney trips and will definitely book with you as soon as my granddaughter is old enough. I can’t imagine getting better service and more attention to detail in planning a trip than with you and your agency! Congrats on this great transition!
