Musings

This seems like a hideous way to start my musings, but seriously… my eyeballs popped out of my head when a friend posted this to their Facebook page this week.  It was shown at our future high school parent orientation.   YIKES!

I’m working a rug for Whit’s room and a few other tiny updates now that he actually lives in here.  I think I’m going to do carpet squares like in John’s room (different pattern though) because I love their look and durability.  Elsa has been trying out the different options.

Speaking of Elsa… (also, I accidentally posted this to John’s instagram page.  He would have DIED and never forgiven me had he found out.  LOL.)

I helped Mother with a new bow for her post-Christmas wreath.  I love how the whole thing turned out!  I would show you mine but my pots are empty because I have yet to replace my ferns.  I love her door mat too.

After much debate and looking at options, I purchased a new bench to go at my kitchen table (the arm broke off of the wood one and it was really not build sturdy enough to withstand use by boys and men).  It has been one hassle after another dealing with Amazon trying to get all of the right parts and pieces. I hope we will have a complete bench to share sometime soon, but here is one side!  (None of the holes line up to attach it and they sent stripped screws.)

With that, I’m off to “Fun Friday” with the neighborhood elementary aged kids and Whit!!  It’s officially the weekend!!!

  1. Always love, love Musings posts! I adore Mother’s wreath (and front door color), SO glad you didn’t get busted on John’s IG (!), hope the bench hassle is solved soon, and those statistics – YIKES! We’re only a year or so away from college applications, and are currently considering things like dual enrollment and how that would effect athletic scholarships – none of this is for the faint of heart!

Hope you have the best weekend! xo

  2. You think UGA stats are impressive, take a look at Georgia Tech’s! I don’t know how kids get in college these day!

  3. We had to put child proof locks on the kitchen cabinets since our precious Scarlett (our fur baby) likes to feast on the trash.
    Have a great weekend!

  4. OH my Gosh! I laughed at the UGA pic! But, you should check Georgia Tech! It’s the same.
I Took my son to an admissions event there last February, when he was a junior. The student speakers were so intimidating and accomplished (ie: double major in aerospace engineering and computer science with manadarin chinese minor ) that he was discouraged to apply, even though he has the GPA and SAT!

    1. Although, I remember GT being like that even back in 1994. I was terrified of the speakers before entering too but found out there was a whole other group of more typical kids on campus. Thankfully!

  5. I have two sons in college right now and wow! It is so stressful. Believe it or not, getting in is the easy part. STAYING in is even harder. They both have tough majors and it has been a struggle. I don’t know if I would make it through if I had to go back and do it again.
And I hate to even mention how much the cost has gone up over the years.

  6. I had no idea Georgia schools were so hard to get in to! I went to Ole Miss and probably a good 1/4 of my friends were from Georgia. They couldn’t get in to a GA school yet still wanted the SEC experience so Ole Miss was a good fit :D
