Labor Day + Easy Party Appetizer

Happy Labor Day!  We have enjoyed fun nights and lazy days this long holiday weekend.

Friday night we attended a huge and delicious Lebanese feast at the home of a fellow lacrosse family.  They built a table that can be moved over as an extension of their massive kitchen island and all 14 adults sat around there and grazed family style all night (the kids dined al fresco).  It was such a unique set up! I wish I had thought to get a picture.  I took two Brownie Pies for dessert and will share the recipe ASAP.  They were delicious and easy!

(This top is old from Anthropologie, the patriotic sandals are Jack Rogers and the wristlet is Dooney & Bourke.  I wear my Charleston Rice Beads ALL the time!)

Last night we watched the Notre Dame game from the pool of our besties the W family.  They also have an amazing party set up!  The kids swam and floated all night in the pool, while the adults lounged pool side.  Everyone had a fantastic view of the game on their outdoor movie screen.

For this one, I took mushroom and black truffle flatbread as an appetizer.  We actually enjoyed these the week before while playing cards with the W family!!  These are about $5 each at Trader Joe’s and only require a few minutes to heat in the oven.  They were a huge hit both weekends and will be a new go-go appetizer around here.

As for the rest of our weekend, we watched a lot of TV, played a lot of video games and did a lot of cooking.  (Speaking of which, I now have 4 recipes NOT to make to share with y’all…)

I hope that you and yours enjoyed a nice holiday and that maybe, just maybe you are feeling a little fall in the air.

  1. Sounds like a great weekend. I just had to comment on the Lebanese dinner. I have a friend who is Lebanese and we have gone several times with them to Nicola’s on LaVista Road. Authentic food and dancing on the weekends! It’s really fun and the kids have a blast, too.

  2. Happy start to fall, Amanda and all! I made it out of the panhandle just before the storm hit and enjoyed a quiet Sunday and Monday at home, sweet, home. While spending a couple of days shopping at Pier Park in Panama City Beach, I got to try “Chicken Salad Chick”! It tasted soooo much like my mom’s and I loved it! ?? Thanks for the flatbread recommendation…looks great!

    1. I’m so glad you made it out. I have friends on the panhandle. It looked so windy early evening yesterday. We LOVE chicken salad chick!! It is so good!! Stay safe. xo
