Double Digits

Today my “baby” turned ten.  Double digits.  A decade.  I know it is cliche, but time flies.  Every single day for the last TEN years this child has brought immeasurable joy and love to our lives.  He’s funny, quirky, smart, honest, sensitive, laid back and independent.

Whit was my rainbow baby and the thing I wanted more than I ever wanted anything in my life. After an entire decade, I still almost cry every time I think about how lucky I am to have him and that God chose ME to be his Mommy.  He’s nearly bigger than me already, but he will be my baby for eternity.

While these wouldn’t qualify as the traditional “frame worthy” pic, I did just that with both of them.  They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and this pretty much sums us up.  Approximately two minutes after we got to the photo shoot with Kimberly Mitchell, Whit has already tripped, fallen in a puddle, drenched his shoes and shirt, and was sweating from all of this exertion so that his hair actually looked wet. Only Whit.

But, back to today…  we were up bright and early to send Whit off to school with a special birthday breakfast in his belly.

I signed up to volunteer as a helper for a special art lesson they get each month since it was his birthday.  I treasure these days.  It seems like elementary school will carry on forever until you wake up one day and they are in seventh grade.

We usually let the kids pick whatever they want to eat and/or do on their birthday night as a family.  Whit chose to order from his favorite pizza place and play board games.  Proof that he is actually mine.  <3  He’s getting the big Alaska trip for his birthday, but we also gave them both their “forever gifts” tonight.  I can’t believe I forgot John’s on his actual birthday.  They got Harry Potter Golden Snitch clocks.  I will take a pic soon and share them!

We ended the night piled up our bed watching a Hallmark movie.  (Sans the middle schooler)  It was a perfect way to celebrate ten years of a pretty perfect kid.
