Musings

This week on Daddy-O’s Starbucks card I treated myself to the pumpkin cream cold brew. It was delicious and perfect for a sweltering “fall” day in Georgia. I’ll definitely be swinging back through for it again next week!

Honey and I went to the Georgia Tech game today. As we walked in he said “this is a rebuilding year” and then “next year is too” to himself more than me as some sort of mantra to help him better cope with the fact that we would probably lose. And, he still left in a huff when we lost. I was more interested in the fact that you know you’re in the South when…. the college football stadium is serving fried green tomato and pimento cheese grilled sandwiches. If you’re wondering, it was about as good as our football playing. Ha!!

Sister sent me this article and it is so good!! We both loved it!

Baby girl is going to be in the Nutcracker again! This year she’s in the battle scene!

And the other baby girl got a hair cut. She always begs for something in the drive through and I usually get her a tap water. She goes nuts.

I answer the question “When is the best time to go to Disney?” approximately 4,369 times a week. :-) It’s August and September. Yes, it’s scorching hot but you can be at the park in the morning to knock out rides until lunch, take a break in the heat of the day and then go back at night. Look at these wait times in Hollywood Studios!

I have two lunch treat places that I rotate between when I’m running errands or on my front office volunteer shift day at school. I LOVE the salad trio bowl with falafel from Zoe’s Kitchen and the avocado toast and kale salad at Kale Me Crazy. Yummmmmmmmy.

Laundry day has slowly but surely turned into laundry week. Is it that their clothes are all just so much bigger now or that they change clothes 4 times a day???

John had to choose a book from a list for school. Why my child that has hated reading since fifth grade chose this one, I cannot say. (It was by far the most challenging but you get extra credit with it.) I ordered the wrong translation the first time and said “Do not touch this book. Just wait one day because the correct one is coming tomorrow.” One day later… said book is crammed in his backpack with a wrinkled cover and his full name scrawled across every surface.

While the aforementioned teen wishes it were rap… this is the reality. You know, when it’s not a true crime podcast.

This slayed me. That self inflicted haircut. Those undies. The memory of the other shopper on the same aisle that couldn’t control the snickers. And yes, we did buy them.

The highlight of this week’s dinner menu was white chicken chili!!! (This on the night when I woke up to an alert “it’s going to be hotter than usual tomorrow.”) I threw everything, including frozen chicken, in the crock pot around lunch and we devoured it for dinner. To make it go further I usually add extra chicken and double the chicken broth.

I hope that you and yours enjoy the rest of the weekend!!

  1. Yes Amanda, my GT man was huffing and puffing about the loss too. We have tickets for Homecoming but thinking of selling them( if we can!!). Hoping this week at Gulf Shores will calm him down. On the bright side our state team, Bama, won!

  2. I love your musings posts! I’m hoping the laundry slows down when the weather slows down. So much smelly laundry!! Have a great week!

  3. I remember that little Whit! Congratulations to CeeCee – how exciting! And, like much everyone around here, we’re wondering when we’re going to get a break in this super hot weather!

Love Musings posts, always. Have a great week! xo
