50s Prime Time Cafe + Tune-In Lounge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Updated 2022 Review Here

For this week’s Disney post, we’re back in Hollywood Studios. I just love this park and all of the changes that have really overhauled it in the past couple of years.

I’m going to chat about the Tune-In Lounge and 50’s Prime Time Cafe. They are old stand-bys and places we have frequented over the years. Personally, I think both are underrated! In fact, in a survey of all Glass Slipper advisors 50’s Prime Time was at the top of Hollywood Studios dining.

Let’s start with the Tune-In Lounge.  The retro living room type space is well themed and you don’t need a reservation to pop in for a cold shake or cocktail on a hot day.

Tune In Lounge adjoins 50’s Prime Time Cafe!   Inside you’ll find classic American comfort food, ’50s kitsch and good old-fashioned family fun.

It’s a blast from the past when you walk into this all-American eatery themed like “Mom’s” kitchen.

We’ve had so much fun over the years in this completely immersive environment, pulling up vinyl chairs to the Formica table and tucking into hearty home cooking.

Our “cousin” waitress always makes sure everyone minds their manners.  She’ll give a stern talking-to anyone with devices at the table!

But don’t despair, the TV at your retro table plays circa 1955 black-and-white clips from popular prime-time shows!

As far as the food, well, we always enjoy it! It’s reliable, down home comfort food. Our favorites are the onion rings, wedge salad, meatloaf (Honey), pot roast (me) and fried chicken (boys).

try the sampler for all the faves!

The food portions are generous, so go hungry.  They are also pretty heavy, so this is a great dinner option to wrap up your day.  You will definitely want an advance dining reservation!

I don’t know about y’all, but I could really go for a hot meal from Mom’s kitchen right about now!

  1. we learned that in the future, Scott and I will just share a fried chicken meal and save space for the milkshakes! We love the pb&j milk shake!

  2. I first had dinner here with my grandmother back in the 90s when it was brand new. So many good memories! (and yes, I could go for the pot roast right about now!)

    1. I could go for anything I don’t have to cook right now but, yes, the pot roast would be fantastic! That is my favorite! I love that you have memories of going with your grandma. <3
