We recently tried Coral Reef Restaurant in Epcot for the very first time!! Coral Reef has been around for ages, and we had a ball finally dining inside this iconic Disney World eatery.
Inside we were greeted by wavy walls and themed lighting.
Coral Reef is an intimate dining experience, and we marveled at dining right in front of a living coral reef. The tiered dining room and panoramic windows give every table an insider view into the awesome, underwater world of The Seas with Nemo & Friends.
The Seas is one of the largest man-made ocean environments on the planet, and holds enough water to fill 54 Olympic-sized swimming pools! The meticulously crafted habitat has been designed by marine scientists to enrich the lives of approximately 2,000 sea creatures—more than 60 aquatic species!—that call The Seas home.
Coral reefs are crucial to the biodiversity of the world’s oceans. They cover less than 1% of the ocean floor, but provide food and shelter to over 25% of all ocean creatures—up to 2 million species! Disney scientists and conservationists are working hard in Florida and around the world to preserve endangered species like sharks, sea turtles and coral.
As we dined, we were constantly in awe of the sharks, sea turtles and rays swimming by! You may even spot a scuba-diving Mickey enjoying the underwater fun!
I went with the Seared Mahi Mahi served with Jasmine Rice, Coconut and Cilantro-Lime Sauce, Caribbean Shrimp Salsa. It was delicious and I devoured every bite. Whit suddenly didn’t feel like seafood and our waitress was kind enough to sub out chicken for the shrimp on the beloved Shrimp & Grits. He said it was delicious and he was happy with his choice.
We capped off our dining experience by sharing the Chocolate Wave, a Warm Flourless Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Gelato. It was delicious!
Whit and I both agreed that we can’t wait to bring the rest of the family back. The fact that it took us many, many years to get to dinner here just proves you can never do it all in Disney! There is always something new, or new to you, to enjoy!
