Quick Lacrosse Trip to Birmingham

For the first time EVER my boys are playing the same sport for the same team and I couldn’t be happier. That three year age gap has never before allowed for this! Whit is trying lacrosse for the first time since early elementary school and John decided to hang up his stick on his elite team and play for a local club. We made the quick drive over to Birmingham this morning.

I have a dear friend from Birmingham and have had the good fortune to try her favorite strawberry cake. With that in mind, we had to make a stop at Edgar’s. We fell in love with the chicken salad and, of course, the strawberry cake. I had to get a bag of the butterflake rolls, as they reminded me of Gottlieb’s Bakery and their rolls I grew up on. It was like going back in time.

The boys each played 5 games, with Whit’s team winning 4 and John’s team winning 2. Both had a great time on and off the field. My favorite moment was watching them play under this full sunset rainbow. WOW.

We were at the Hoover Met and there was a brewery at the complex. It was so much fun – they had food trucks, a live band, a nice green space and board games.

A local friend picked me up and treated me to breakfast as well. I don’t have a picture of that, but was so happy we could make it happen.

As much fun as we had, our drive home on Sunday was terribly stinky. There is no stench like that of two teenage boys after each playing two games in summer like temps PLUS all of their gear. Peeee-yew.

Hope y’all had a wonderful weekend!

  1. Boys can be smelly, but my daughter and her friends work in a barn…horse girl stench is quite disgusting as well. The rainbow pic is gorgeous, and that cake looks so yummy.
