Celebrating Christmas 2023 {Shopping Savannah}

The men have a Christmas Eve “tradition” of a long lunch at Jalapeno’s. We know it really started as a way to get them out of watching the kids when they were little. Now that those littles are young men, they join in to avoid having to go shopping with the ladies. And so this Christmas Eve was spent like so many before it. The men sent no pics of their afternoon festivities, but the ladies had an absolutely lovely day – eating, shopping, exploring, laughing and getting into all sorts of hairy situations with Mother’s driving.

We spent most of our day at the Christmas Markets at Plant Riverside. We all picked up some fabulous last minute gifts from small Savannah businesses.

We enjoyed live music, hot chocolates and soaking up the company of our favorite people.

It wouldn’t be a trip downtown without a walk down Broughton Street. We hit our favorites, including the Paris Market.

Back at home, we had a festive evening of food, Daddy-O’s “Russian” mimosas (I misheard “Blushing” and was so confused all night), hours and hours of board games and a dinner visit from our neighbor friends D and B.

Back in November, John’s first request on the morning he turned 18 was to be allowed to stay up with the adults for Christmas Eve wrapping. We hadn’t considered this but all agreed it was fine to add one more to the crew. I am so sad we didn’t get our annual photo, but rest assured we stayed up until the wee hours of the morning wrapping, talking, and sipping on scotch and nog (with whiskey, Jane!). John added the Hangover movie to our festive lineup, much to the dismay of Daddy-O who promptly changed it to midnight mass as soon as he stepped out of the room for a snack. It was another memorable Christmas Eve.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight!

  1. I absolutely love reading your Christmas recaps!! Always so joyful and full of family time. I’m only commenting on this post, but I love the pre-Christmas, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and post Christmas happenings in your family. You’re very blessed. And it’s awesome that John was able to join the late night wrapping festivities.
