The dining room is almost at the finish line and I truly couldn’t be happier with the transformation. The wallpaper and curtains are both Bird And Thistle, Beige by Brunschwig Fils.
After searching high and low for a spot for my bridal portrait, this was the only place it would fit in the entire house. I moved the mirror that was previously here to the den, replacing one I revived with chalk paint 15 years ago.
I moved the mirror that was previously in the kitchen here, and the sconces that were in the living room to either side. I really want the wallpaper to shine here!
Sister says it is time to retire the high chair, but I never will. :-) You can see the chip overflow basket here too. I didn’t realize that is where it had landed.
Here’s what’s left in the kitchen:
- Wallpaper walls – have to wait until late April for the paint to cure
- Buffet type table to fill this space a little more
- Art
- Door for fridge
And in the dining room:
- Monogram chair backs – my upholsterer still has a couple of the chair seat covers; once I have them all I’ll get them monogrammed

It is coming together so nicely! Love all the colors.
Can you tell us your source for the area rug? Thanks!
I’ve had the rug since we moved in 15 years ago. It is indoor/outdoor from Ballard Designs.
Just gorgeous! I’ve always admired your decorating style. It is so timeless and pretty.
Oh my gosh, this just turned out gorgeous! I always thought the blue was beautiful, but this wallpaper is amazing. Good job!!
The gorgeous wallpaper and curtains just make this room! I love how you re-imaged the eat-in kitchen/formal dining room. It has such a clean, updated and casually elegant modern look now especially with the beautiful built-in cabinets.
