Happy Labor Day! We made the most of the long weekend, kicking things off Friday night with pizza party of three.
Saturday on the Plains, John attended his first Auburn game as a student. He reported back on having THE BEST DAY!
Meanwhile in Atlanta, Honey and I cheered the Jackets on for the win!
Sunday morning we were off to Auburn ourselves! Whit has a tee time so did not join. We had a large bag of things John had forgotten, and also collected a few more bags for roommates and a friend from Atlanta on his hall. We stopped by the boys’ fave bagel place and picked up each of their favorite flavors for a taste from home. And, I spent Saturday making John’s request – taco bar and brown butter rice krispie treats! Honey made homemade salsa. All the boys were thrilled and I gave each of them a big hug from their mamas.
I helped John change his sheets (it is hard with the height and position of the bed) and do a few other things in the dorm and then we were off to a divine lunch at Lucy’s.
The sight of him walking back to his dorm wasn’t quite so gutting this time. :-) I know he’s happy, loving life, working hard, and extremely busy. And, I know we’ll be back soon!
Monday was a lazy day at home. A little pool time, a little reading, a little Netflix.
It looks like we have some cool fall like mornings ahead next week and I couldn’t be happier about that!

I didn’t know if you were a suit to a football game ? Is that a sorority thing?
It is common for fraternity pledges in the South. They did that way back when at Georgia Tech, too. :-)
Your preparation for John’s move was so complete. 😊 Are there any items that you would add to your lists for future reference or were these things more of a personal nature? I’ve shared your planning with a couple of young moms who just experienced the same thing and would love to share any updates. Thanks, Amanda! 🧡💙🧡 Jane 🌴
Not necessarily – he wanted some clothes he didn’t originally take, dress shoes, hawaiian shirt, etc.
Thank you! He looks so happy and like he’s already older. 😊
