We had the best kind of Christmas Eve I could hope for! One gathered as a family with no real agenda – snacking our way through the day, working on our puzzle, Christmas movies streaming all day, and games late into the night.

Daddy-O has read Twas the Night Before Christmas every Christmas eve that I can remember. When Sister and I were young adults Mother changed it up to include a gift exchange. Everyone starts with a wrapped gift. Then, every time Daddy-O reads aloud the word “And” you pass your gift to the left. At the end of the story you open the gift you are holding! And then the trades and barters begin :-)

Once the kids had retreated to the bunk room, the adult wrapping party began! This is another tradition we’ve had ever since John was born. Nobody wraps anything until Christmas eve. Then, Daddy-O opens the good bottle of scotch, Mother hauls out every paper, ribbon and gift wrapping supply needed and we ready the gifts for under the tree while snacking the night away.

Sister is always the last one to bed. And she always manages to magically catch this guy!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Your Christmas Eve recaps are always some of my favorites! And it’s so fun to see how your kids have grown over the years. I’m surprised you can get them to bed, and that they don’t want to continue to hang out. Merry Christmas!
Well, they sleep together in the bunk room so it’s not really going to bed :-) They just have to stay put so we can wrap!
