Valentine’s Day Fun {Dining Table}

Last weekend when Marme and Daddy-O were visiting Honey made us a delicious dinner of sous vide steaks and all the sides. I was inspired to put together a lovely table for the occasion.

I already had most everything on this table. I only share that because I think so many accounts on social media make you feel like you have to go out to Target or WalMart and purchase everything on the seasonal aisle for every holiday to be festive. Over the years I’ve collected nice things that can work for a variety of occasions.

The pink placemats, white china, crystal, silver and candlesticks were all from our wedding registry. Mother gave me the red hearts years ago when the boys were little.

I added the bow plates to my collection in the last 18 months or so. I love that the red is versatile for Valentine’s Day, Christmas, July 4th, etc.! When I picked the white china I intended to dress it up with different salad plates and that has been fun to do over the last 23 years. The napkins are the other relatively new thing. I fell in love with them in an April Cornell sale and have used them for many different meals and occasions.

The rose bowl is a family heirloom recently passed down to me. I filled it with a bouquet from Trader Joe’s plus a few extra stemss. Round bowls take more flowers than you expect them to!

I’ve had the heart pillow for years. I used to always have it on the kitchen banquette, but it looks cute here for now.

The matching heart garland is on the mirror I always hang it on … except the mirror is now in the dining room rather than the kitchen. :-)

I had the red ribbon in my stash. I keep all of my cut lengths on a hanger so I can easily reuse!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope yours is sweet.
