Honey is fifty!!!

What a tremendous milestone for the most patient, kind, and steady man I’ve ever known. I say it often because it’s true—he is the calm in our chaos, the rock of our little family, and the one we all count on without hesitation. There’s truly nothing he wouldn’t do for us. He’s the voice of reason as we navigate life with two teenagers and two wild puppies, and even after a long day of work, he never hesitates to jump in and help at home.

I’m endlessly grateful to have him by my side. It’s hard to believe I’ve known this man for THIRTY years—and after all that time (which somehow feels like no time at all), he’s still just as easy to celebrate… and even easier to love.

As for today—well, his birthday went about how most adult birthdays do: work, meetings, lunch on the go… you know the drill! True to his laid-back nature, he chose to mark the milestone with pizza and beer, and honestly, it was perfect. It turned out to be a gorgeous evening that had me feeling especially grateful. Just the four of us, no time constraints, no agenda—only good food, good people, and a gorgeous sunset. Sometimes, the simplest celebrations are the sweetest.

I ordered a yard sign to shout the good news from the hill top! John’s bestie was assigned as the installer, which we all thought was sweet.
