Holiday Weekend Fun

By kicking off the long holiday weekend at the Braves game Wednesday night, it felt like a full-fledged vacation right here at home!

Honey and the boys have played more holes of golf than I can count, grabbing every available tee time they could find. With the boys away, I pulled together a spontaneous game of mahjong in the pool – talk about the best of both worlds!

We’ve bounced between swimming at home and at the club, savoring lazy afternoons that drift into the most perfect summer nights.

We had family friends over to grill pizzas on the Big Green Egg, where we noshed and talked and laughed gathered around the kitchen island long past my bedtime. Where their oldest and Whit discussed pizza toppings and strategies and the other two – friends since t-ball – chatted college sports at Tennessee and Auburn.

It’s been a stretch of summer days that remind me just how sweet the simple moments are. Here’s to long weekends that feel like vacations and summer nights I never want to end. Best of all? There’s still one more day to soak it all in before that Monday morning alarm.

As sweet as these summer days have been here in Georgia, my heart has been so heavy thinking of the unimaginable tragedy in the Texas Hill Country. My prayers have been constant for the precious girls lost from Camp Mystic and so many others in the area. I pray for their families, friends, and the whole community that holds them dear. Many of the wonderful ladies I work with in Texas are feeling this pain up close, and my heart breaks for each of them. It’s a sobering reminder to hold our loved ones close and savor every ordinary moment together.
