Sometimes life waits until the perfect moment to gift you exactly what you need: laughter, bubbles, chocolate, and a little R&R. My bestie and I were treated to gift cards for The Woodhouse Spa last summer, but with work, kids, and life in general, it took us 13 months to care out a day to enjoy them together. She recently moved about an hour away, so it was even more special to reconnect and spend the day together.
The spa has a few locations to choose from, but we went with The Avalon. Located just outside of Atlanta, is the perfect blend of upscale shopping, dining, and entertainment. Think open-air streets lined with beautiful boutiques, local favorites, and a mix of national retailers – all set in a walkable, lifestyle center vibe that makes the whole day feel like a little getaway.
We started our day with a leisurely lunch at Café Intermezzo, a spot known for European-inspired fare and decadent desserts. From there, we meandered through all of the fabulous shops.
Next, we were off to treat ourselves to the Woodhouse Spa. I’ll admit, my luck with strip mall spas has been… inconsistent. But Woodhouse exceeded every expectation. From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable… friendly check-in, soft robes and slippers, and a private place to store our things. We spent about half an hour in the relaxation room, quietly chatting and sipping complimentary bubbles while indulging in way too much Dove chocolate.
The restorative sleep massage was pure bliss – perhaps my favorite style massage I’ve experienced. It began face-up with a soothing scalp massage, and the lavender scented oil used throughout was heavenly (my absolute favorite). Afterwards, we lingered for another hour in the relaxation room, soaking it all in before we reluctantly went our separate ways.
It was a delightful way to spend a Thursday. I can’t wait to do it again, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Woodhouse to anyone looking for a serene spa day in the Atlanta area.
