We headed down to Tech last weekend for the GT vs. VT game. After three decades, it’s pretty fun to be a winning team. I loved spending the entire game surrounded by my ZTA ladies! Honey kept asking if I was ever going to come up to our seats, but honestly… it’s rare to have that many of us in attendance at once. And y’all know me… I’m far more into the company, the snacks, and the spirit than the actual sport of any sporting event.

Now, if you know Georgia Tech fans, you know we don’t really “gather” for games. Heck, half of Atlanta doesn’t even drive the 12 miles down to the stadium when the team’s in town. So every fall when I see friends hosting their football watch gatherings, I can’t help but lament that our crowd just doesn’t do that. And so, you can imagine how we were positively thrilled when some friends invited us over to watch the UGA vs. Auburn game after the Tech win. (Of course, the irony wasn’t lost on me that we got the invite mostly because John goes to Auburn.) As soon as we got out of the car, Honey yelled “War Eagle!” and immediately got a firm “None of that!” from our Dawg-loving hosts. I just looked at him and insisted he must behave if we ever want to get invited back. (Truthfully, these friends are the best, and we had a wonderful night. Good food, great laughs, and only a little friendly football rivalry.) Meanwhile in Auburn, John hosted a bunch of high school friends.

After a FULL day of tailgating and socializing, we hit Waffle House for Sunday brunch. I’d been craving it for two solid weeks. There’s just something so divine about a double scattered, smothered, and covered with a side of waffle and a vanilla Coke to wash it all down.

Whit is still volunteering most weekends and continues to skip both GT games and watch parties for any team. LOL. He was recently accepted into the Science National Honor Society, which we’re so proud of! We’ve got a few college tours lined up next month, with Tennessee and Georgia on the list. Most Georgians will laugh to know I’ve only been to Athens once in my life for the wedding of a bestie. Anyhoo…. John was laser focused on Auburn from the start, so this round feels a little more exploratory. It’s going to be fun… I think!
Until next time, Go Jackets! THWG! (Unless you’re inviting us to a party… then Go Georgia!)
