A stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa during the holidays is truly a quintessential Christmas experience. Even if you’ve visited before, there is something about seeing this resort dressed for the season that feels special, nostalgic and unmistakably grand.
This year, the iconic gingerbread house did not make an appearance. And honestly? I didn’t miss it. What I didn’t miss even more were the crowds that usually surround it. Without that focal point, the lobby felt calmer, more refined and easier to simply enjoy.
From the moment you arrive, the holiday magic begins. The drive up to the porte cochère is lined with lush garlands, warmly lit and welcoming.
Outdoors, poinsettias are planted generously throughout the grounds and illuminated reindeer appear to graze among the landscaping, adding a touch of storybook charm after sunset.
Inside, the Grand Floridian truly lives up to her name. Victorian inspired Christmas décor fills the resort with elegance. The towering Christmas tree sparkles in the lobby, anchoring the space beautifully, while garlands wrap stairways and railings throughout the building.
The new lobby check-in area was especially lovely, adorned with classic wreaths that felt both festive and timeless. And of course, one of my favorite traditions remains unchanged: the grand pianist playing Christmas music throughout the afternoon and into the evening. There is something incredibly soothing about sitting in the lobby, listening to familiar holiday melodies float through the air while the light pours in through the windows.
One of the most exciting additions this season is the new lobby bar, Perch, which is now complete. I absolutely love it and think it fits right in with the Grand Floridian’s timeless elegance.
Honey and I absolutely loved our Christmas stay here. The Grand Floridian remains my favorite Disney resort in every season, but there is something particularly magical about her at Christmas. And, I was especially happy for the many clients who chose the Grand Floridian this holiday season despite the lobby renovations!
