A Couples Shower Celebrating A & L

Some showers are simply extra special because of the history behind them. A’s mom has been one of my dearest friends since the moment we met during rush at the ZTA house all those years ago. She’s my sorority big sis, one of the people woven through nearly every chapter of my adult life over the last three decades.

Honey asked Daddy-O for permission to marry me at her wedding.

As newlyweds, we lived just a few doors down from one another on the very same street.

And A? She was one of the very first babies I ever had the joy of loving.

I can still vividly remember helping decorate her nursery, attending that darling first birthday party and cheering her on through all the years and milestones since. Standing in my backyard all these years later helping host her wedding shower honestly felt a little surreal in the sweetest way.

And so, it was only fitting for a few of us old college friends to rally together and celebrate this beautiful couple.

We hosted a shower in our backyard on the most gorgeous spring evening. The party was filled with such a fun, accomplished and genuinely kind group of young adults… many of them fellow Yellow Jackets, which made Honey especially happy.

For the food, we catered everything from Whole Foods Market, which made entertaining so easy. Everything was delicious and allowed us to actually enjoy the evening instead of spending the entire time in the kitchen.

Since the shower happened within a week of prom, I reused all of my black and white bow décor one final time before officially packing it away. It worked perfectly for a couples shower. Elegant, festive and simple.

But the true star of the evening was the spritz bar. We set up all the fixings for Hugo spritzes, Aperol spritzes and limoncello spritzes, and it ended up being such a fun interactive detail for guests throughout the evening. Light, refreshing and absolutely perfect for summer entertaining.

I loved wedding showers back when we were all attending them in the late 90s and early 2000s, and apparently I still love them just as much now. And I especially loved watching A open her gifts because she registered for so many timeless, traditional things I adore… china, silver, monograms and all the beautifully classic pieces that make a house feel layered and personal over time.

We could not be happier for them both. And now we all eagerly await Savannah this summer!
