Disney’s Riviera Resort

There are Disney resorts that feel fun. There are Disney resorts that feel convenient. And then there are Disney resorts that feel like an actual vacation the moment you arrive. Disney’s Riviera Resort is absolutely that kind of place.

Over the years, we’ve stayed here more times than I can count in every room category available, from a cozy Tower Studio all the way up to the breathtaking Grand Villa with extended family. This review isn’t based on one stay or one first impression. It’s a collection of experiences gathered across countless visits, different seasons of life and many different styles of Disney vacations.

And every single time, Riviera still feels special.

From the palm-lined arrival to the elegant lobby, bubbling fountains and beautifully manicured grounds, the entire resort feels peaceful, polished and intentionally designed. Disney storytelling is everywhere, but done in such a refined and sophisticated way that it never feels overdone. This is a deluxe resort in every sense of the word.

One of the things I appreciate most about Riviera is how it balances luxury with warmth. Some deluxe resorts can feel busy or overwhelming. Riviera feels calm. Romantic. Relaxing. It’s just as wonderful for couples and girls trips as it is for families with young children or multigenerational travel. And perhaps most importantly, it feels easy.

The Overall Feel & Atmosphere

Riviera draws inspiration from the European Riviera and the places Walt Disney himself loved to travel. The result is a resort that feels elegant and timeless while still unmistakably Disney.

The lobby is stunning without feeling stuffy. Cozy seating areas invite guests to linger with coffee in the mornings or cocktails at night. The tucked-away library just off the lobby remains one of my favorite hidden gems on property. It’s quiet, intimate and such a lovely place to relax for a few moments away from the parks.

Throughout the property, you’ll discover beautiful custom artwork featuring beloved Disney characters reimagined with a European flair. It feels less like traditional Disney décor and more like a curated art collection quietly woven throughout the resort.

Outside, Riviera truly shines.

The landscaping is lush and pristine, with fountains, gardens, waterfront pathways and charming seating areas around nearly every corner. There are swings overlooking the water, fire pits glowing at night and countless peaceful spots to simply slow down and enjoy being there.

And at night? Riviera is magical.

The soft lighting, glowing pathways and beautifully illuminated grounds make the entire resort feel almost storybook-like after dark.

Accommodations

One of Riviera’s greatest strengths is the range of accommodations available. Whether you’re planning a couples trip, a family vacation or a multigenerational gathering, there is likely a room category that fits beautifully.

Tower Studio

The Tower Studios are unique to Riviera and the new Polynesian Island Tower, and are designed specifically for parties of two. They are compact but incredibly efficient, with a queen Murphy bed that folds into a sofa during the day, smart storage solutions and a balcony perfect for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. For couples wanting deluxe accommodations at a more approachable price point, these can be a fantastic option.

Deluxe Studio

The Deluxe Studios are what I recommend most often for families of four or five. They offer significantly more function than a standard hotel room with a queen bed, queen Murphy bed and additional pull-down twin bed. The split bathroom layout is especially helpful for families trying to get ready in the mornings. We personally love the balance these rooms strike between space, comfort and price.

1 Bedroom Villa

The 1-Bedroom Villas are one of my favorite accommodations at Walt Disney World. You gain a full kitchen, washer and dryer, spacious living area and significantly more room to spread out. For longer stays especially, having laundry alone feels life changing. The bathrooms here are exceptionally well designed for families with split spaces, soaking tubs and plenty of storage. Preferred view villas are especially lovely at Riviera and well worth considering if budget allows.

2 Bedroom Villa

We’ve stayed in the 2-Bedroom Villas multiple times and they truly feel like a luxury vacation home within Disney World. These villas comfortably sleep larger families while still allowing everyone room to spread out and relax. The full kitchen, large dining area and multiple balconies make it ideal for extended stays or multigenerational travel. And the details throughout these rooms are just beautiful. Riviera’s artwork and design touches are among my favorites anywhere on Disney property.

3 Bedroom Grand Villa

The Grand Villa is simply spectacular. Occupying the entire end of the building, these villas sleep up to twelve adults and feel genuinely grand in scale. One of our most memorable Disney vacations was spent in a Grand Villa with our extended family, and I cannot recommend the experience enough for larger groups. The living spaces are enormous, the kitchen is stunning and the wall of windows overlooking the water is breathtaking. t feels less like a hotel room and more like a luxury residence that just happens to be inside Walt Disney World.

Dining

One thing Riviera absolutely excels at is dining. In fact, the food here is so consistently good that we often find ourselves intentionally planning extra resort time just to enjoy it.

Le Petit Cafe

Le Petit Café is one of my favorite little spots anywhere at Disney World. In the mornings, it serves specialty coffee drinks and pastries, and by evening it transforms into a cozy wine and cocktail bar.

My personal morning routine here is grabbing a honey almond iced latte and sitting on the balcony overlooking the resort grounds. It’s such a peaceful and enjoyable way to begin a Disney day.

And do not skip the banana bread.

Primo Piatto

For quick service, Primo Piatto is truly exceptional. Honestly, the quality here rivals many table service restaurants around Disney property.

The blueberry lemon pancakes remain one of my favorite Disney breakfasts anywhere. We also love the Croque Monsieur, salads, hearth-baked pizzas and veggie kebabs.

Everything feels fresh, elevated and thoughtfully prepared.

Bar Riva

Bar Riva is located right off the pool and beach area and is one of the best pool bars on Disney property in my opinion. The cocktails are wonderful, the menu is fresh and flavorful and the atmosphere feels relaxed but refined. This is the kind of place where lunch accidentally turns into a long afternoon by the pool.

Topolino’s Terrace

And then there’s Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera. Quite honestly, I think Topolino’s is one of the crown jewels of Disney dining.

Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends

Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends is my favorite character dining experience anywhere at Walt Disney World. The food is genuinely delicious, the atmosphere is beautiful and the character interactions feel elevated and relaxed rather than rushed and chaotic.

Topolino’s Terrace Dinner

Dinner is equally exceptional with handmade pastas, seafood, steaks and one of the most stunning rooftop settings on property.

Amenities

Riviera’s amenities feel thoughtful and refined without becoming overwhelming.

Pool

The main Riviera Pool is lively and beautiful with colorful umbrellas, elegant architecture and a waterslide winding around a tower column. The activity staff keeps things energetic throughout the afternoons with games and activities.

S’il Vous Play

For little ones, S’il Vous Play is one of the cutest splash areas at Disney World, inspired by the fountains of Europe and featuring Fantasia-themed details.

Beau Soleil Quiet Pool

Meanwhile, Beau Soleil quiet pool is exactly that: quiet.

Movies Under the Stars

The resort hosts a Movie Under the Stars every other night, right here on this beautiful lawn.

Bocce Court

The bocce court is lively in the afternoons and evenings. Balls are checked out from Community Hall.

Beach

The beach area is tucked away on the East side of the resort. A lovely spot to bring our dinner and watch the sun set.

Gym

They gym is light, bright and spacious.

Transportation

Transportation is another area where Riviera shines. Guests have direct access to the Disney Skyliner for both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, and honestly, once you stay on the Skyliner route, it’s hard to go back. Being able to glide over Walt Disney World in the mornings and evenings instead of waiting for buses feels like a luxury in itself.

For Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, buses are used.

My Take

Riviera remains one of my favorite resorts at Walt Disney World because it delivers something increasingly difficult to find at Disney: a true sense of escape.

It feels luxurious but welcoming. Elevated but still deeply relaxing. Beautiful without sacrificing functionality.

This is a resort I recommend often for clients celebrating milestone birthdays, anniversaries, girls trips and multigenerational vacations. It’s also one of my favorite choices for families wanting deluxe accommodations with exceptional dining and convenient transportation.

Quite simply, Riviera feels special.

And after all these stays, I still can’t wait to go back.
