I’m wrapping up the indoor portion of this year’s patriotic home tour in the dining room, and I have a confession to make… I loved last year’s table so much that I recreated it almost exactly. In fact, I didn’t purchase a single thing.
There is something incredibly satisfying about pulling out favorite pieces year after year and finding that you still love them just as much as you did the first time around. The bonus, of course, is that decorating from your own stash is a whole lot easier on the budget.

One thing I wondered when we wallpapered this room was whether my seasonal decorations would still work against the new backdrop. Thankfully, that concern proved completely unfounded. I’ve enjoyed decorating this room for every holiday and season, and patriotic décor may be one of my favorite looks yet.

For the centerpiece, I filled my beloved Blue Italian jar with red, white and blue flowers and tucked in a few American flags. I swapped my everyday white candlesticks for the matching Blue Italian versions, which helped tie everything together beautifully.
The linens were an April Cornell sale find from several years ago and remain favorites. While they weren’t designed specifically for patriotic holidays, the cheerful red, white and blue palette feels perfectly at home throughout the summer months.

On the table, I paired my Blue Willow dinner plates with the red bow salad plates I added to my collection a couple of Christmases ago. Layering dishes is one of my favorite ways to make a table feel special without adding a lot of extra work.
The place cards are old friends as well. They were originally made for John’s confirmation, but I continue to pull them out whenever I need a little personalized touch.

One of my favorite details remains the chair toppers.

Over on the mirror, I draped a patriotic bunting that has traveled all over the house through the years. A few command hooks keep it perfectly in place and make decorating incredibly easy.

Finally, on the sideboard sits my grandmother’s rose bowl filled with miniature American flags. Once the fresh flowers on the table began to fade, I moved the rose bowl to the center of the table and loved it just as much. It’s a reminder that sometimes the simplest decorations end up being the most meaningful.

And with that, the indoor portion of this year’s patriotic home tour comes to a close. The pool and outdoor spaces are still waiting for their moment, and I’m hoping to photograph them soon!
