If you followed along on social media, you know I spent last week at home in Savannah. I flew down a few days ahead of Honey, who would later join me for a very special wedding weekend, and from the moment I stepped off the plane, I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be. As I walked through the airport, Madonna’s Like a Prayer was playing overhead, and the first words I heard were, “and it feels like home.”
I laughed out loud. Because it did.
No matter how old I get, no matter how many places I travel or how many wonderful experiences I have elsewhere, Savannah will always be my home.

We spent our days shopping and eating, our mornings lingering over copious amounts of coffee and our evenings playing cards, watching television and simply enjoying each other’s company. There was no schedule, no agenda and nowhere we absolutely had to be. It was glorious.

One of the sweetest things about going home is that I’ll never be too old to feel like their little girl. Mother and Daddy-O still fuss over me in all the best ways. My pillow is lightly sprayed with lavender pillow mist before bedtime. The guest bathroom is stocked with lovely little products Mother thinks I might enjoy trying. Favorite foods appear without my asking. Every meal seems to include something they know I love. There is a comfort in being cared for by the people who have loved you longest that is difficult to put into words.
As always, we spent plenty of time visiting some of my Savannah favorites. Meals included stops at Paris Market Cafe, Hirano’s and The Vault, all of which remain as wonderful as ever.

We also enjoyed browsing some of my favorite shops including Paris Market, One Fish Two Fish, The Printed Peach, Emily McCarthy, Savannah Bee Company and Polka Dots. It was also my first visit to the Savannah Needlepoint shop, which was a gold mine for the most amazing Savannah canvases!

And because some traditions simply cannot be broken, I also made my customary visit to what longtime readers know is my favorite Walmart in America. I don’t know what makes it so superior to every other Walmart, but I stand by the claim and will continue making a pilgrimage there whenever I’m home.
More than the shopping and dining, though, I treasured the simple moments. Morning coffee at the kitchen table, rehashing old stories and telling new ones, hot Paris tea in the middle of summer, card games after dinner, the comfort of familiar routines and my favorite faces.

The older I get, the more I appreciate that time together is never guaranteed. Time spent doing ordinary things with the people you love turns out to be pretty extraordinary after all.

Time with our parents is the best.
I only see mine 2-3 times a year. One of them is a few weeks long stay.
It’s my favorite, just sharing the pace of everyday routine with them.
Exactly this <3
Forgive me for this question but what kind of sundress are you wearing. It looks like the straps are double layers and I’ve never seen a dress like that! I am obviously not very fashionable!!!
It’s from Celia B!
