Sips & Suits {July Mahjong}

July turned into a month full of Mahjong, and I loved every minute of it.

Our monthly Sips & Suits gathering was here at the house, and while I somehow neglected to photograph the tables, I did remember to snap a picture of my newest Nora Fleming mini. It’s the cutest little addition to my ever-growing collection.

In addition to our regular club gathering, I found myself hosting not one, but two impromptu morning games. Both were just four ladies around the table, which always makes for such a relaxed and leisurely morning. Only this time, our “table” floated.

We carried my floating Mahjong board out to the pool and set it in the hot tub with the heat turned off. Honey brought over an umbrella to keep us shaded, and we used the most fabulous wine bucket, a hostess gift from A & L’s wedding shower, to keep our drinks chilled. It was one of those mornings where we looked at each other and wondered why we hadn’t thought of doing this sooner.

To wrap up the month, I joined some neighbors at a local group play outing and it was such a fun evening. They are quite a bit younger than I am, with preschool-aged children. One of the beautiful things about mahjong is the way it brings together women from every season of life. There is something refreshing about friendships that span generations, and I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know these young mamas.

Of course, the evening also introduced me to another gorgeous Mahjong set. This Nantucket-inspired design absolutely spoke to me. How many Mahjong sets are too many? Asking for a friend. 😉

On that, I think I’m going to try to drum up some last minute players for the holiday weekend!
