Well, our summer is quickly coming to an end, and before we dive headfirst into senior year, orchestra, football games and all that fall brings, I thought I’d share a few favorite snapshots from my camera roll.
Our little garden has been so good to us this summer! This basket is just one of many hauls we’ve enjoyed, and there is something especially satisfying about walking outside to pick vegetables for supper.
Whit competed in a couple of Georgia State Golf Association tournaments this summer. On this particular day, he brought home a third-place finish, and we couldn’t have been more proud. As if that weren’t exciting enough, he also landed a fall internship with the Georgia State Golf Association. It feels like such a wonderful opportunity for him to learn more about the game he loves while gaining valuable experience at the same time. We can’t wait to see what this next chapter holds for him.

One thing I’ll never stop being grateful for is the flexibility this career has given me. It meant I could spend a weekday cheering Whit on at his golf tournaments instead of wondering how they were going. It meant saying “yes” when he asked if I wanted to grab a spontaneous lunch between errands. Those little moments rarely make the highlight reel of life, but they’re the ones I’ll remember most.
Honey had and his golf partner bestie played the Member Member this year and had a ball! Couldn’t let the summer recap pass without this earning a spot on the highlight reel.
I’m still making sourdough!! Sandwiches on the porch were our go-to all summer long.
Some things come full circle in the sweetest ways. This summer, Little Miss CeeCee took class with two of the same instructors who taught me growing up. It brought back so many wonderful memories, including John playing my Nutcracker Prince and, even earlier, my prince when I danced Snow White. Seeing another generation in that studio made my heart so happy.
John’s internship continues to exceed every expectation. We truly couldn’t be more proud of him. On this particular day, he ran into a longtime friend of mine who works for the company, and she insisted they take a selfie to send to me. It made my day.
He’s also had lunch with one of my sorority sisters, someone I hadn’t seen or spoken to in nearly three decades. Watching people who were part of my life years ago cross paths with my son has been such an unexpected joy. Just another sweet full-circle moment from this summer.
I didn’t take nearly enough pictures for a full Sips & Suits post this month, but we’re still going strong! One of the ladies in our group brought this absolutely gorgeous mahjong set, and I couldn’t resist snapping a photo. And while we’re talking mahjong… I have to give you a little sneak peek at my new tablecloth. I can’t wait to show you the whole setup next month!
We also spent quite a bit of time volunteering this summer. Our favorite opportunity was a new one for us at the Atlanta Community Food Bank. We spent a few mornings bagging thousands of pounds of groceries, knowing each one would help a family in need. It was incredibly well organized, and we left each shift feeling like we had truly made a difference.
Another volunteer project took us into a nearby river to help clean the waterways that eventually supply our drinking water. I’ll be honest… this one wasn’t my favorite. It was hot, muggy and every time my toes disappeared into that murky water, I got a little squeamish! But seeing the amount of trash we pulled from the river made the impact undeniable. All of this is a credit to Whit – always his idea and his choice of an organization. I’m just along for the wonderful ride.
