Auburn Family Weekend 2026 & It’s Your Story Giveaway Winner

We rounded out Whit’s fall break with a trip to Auburn for Family Weekend! After spending the week at Disney World, we made the drive up from Orlando and scooted into town Friday evening, just in time to meet John, some of his friends and a few of their parents for dinner.

It felt SO good to be back together as a family of four. With John away at college and Whit busy with his senior year, these weekends together are becoming more and more special. I know this season of life is exactly what we’ve been working toward, but that doesn’t mean I don’t miss having everyone under the same roof!

After dinner, we headed over to the Sigma Chi house, where they were hosting a big party that night. Whit was a little reluctant to commit to staying for the evening, but he was definitely interested in attending his first college party. Ha!

And let me tell you something. The days of strolling up to a fraternity house with a bottle of Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill are LONG gone.

They have bouncers! And guest lists! And they check IDs!

Meanwhile, I had brought along a nice bottle of wine, only to learn that IFC fraternity houses are completely glass-free. The guy at the door suggested I leave it in a bush.

A BUSH.

Hahahaha! I took my wine right back to the car, where it spent the evening safely tucked away.

We hung out in John’s room for a while, which was honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole weekend. Just the four of us, catching up and being together. I would have been perfectly happy if the night had ended right there.

But we did venture out to hear the rapper performing at the party for a little while. As things got increasingly crazy, we decided we’d had enough college nightlife for one evening and headed back to the hotel!

Saturday in Auburn

We slept in a bit Saturday morning before heading back over to the Sigma Chi house for lunch, tailgating and the band.

It was a gorgeous day in Auburn, and the atmosphere was so much fun!

One of Whit’s good friends from high school was also in town with his mom for the weekend. He’s considering Auburn for college, too, so we invited them to come hang out with us at the house. We ended up having the best afternoon together!

I love that these college weekends are becoming a mix of John’s world and Whit’s, with familiar faces from home sprinkled in. It makes everything feel a little more connected.

We were also lucky enough to get football tickets from a friend, so we headed over to Jordan-Hare Stadium for the game.

And y’all. It was HOT.

Not just a little warm. The kind of hot where you wonder how it’s possibly almost October!

We had seats right in the end zone and, despite the heat, had an amazing time. There’s just something about being in Jordan-Hare on a football Saturday. The crowd, the traditions, the energy. It never gets old.

By the time the game was over, we were completely worn out and more than ready to head back to the hotel!

A Little Auburn Dreaming

All in all, it was such a fun weekend. We loved seeing John in his element, spending time with friends and getting to enjoy a little taste of college life together as a family.

And I have to admit, there’s a tiny part of me dreaming about what next fall might look like.

Would it be too much to hope for TWO boys at Auburn?

Whit has plenty of decisions ahead of him, and I know he’ll end up exactly where he’s supposed to be. But he did admit after this visit that Auburn had moved a little higher on his list.

I’ll take it!

For now, I’m just grateful for another weekend with all four of us together, making memories in a place we already love so much.
