Haunted Halloween Home Tour 2026 {Den}

Our Haunted Halloween Home Tour is making its way into the den today, where things have taken a decidedly spooky turn! This is the room where we spend most of our time, and I love giving it a little haunted makeover every October. Nothing too scary, but there are plenty of creepy crawlies, a few ghostly surprises and some rather unfortunate family portraits. Haha!

Apparently, the spiders have decided to take over the den again, and I’m not doing a thing about it! These oversized black paper spiders came from Michael’s years ago, and they’ve become one of the easiest decorations I own. A little painter’s tape gets them back on the walls each October, and suddenly the room looks like it hasn’t been dusted in a hundred years. Just the look I’m going for!

One of my favorite little details isn’t actually Halloween decor at all. The black silhouette pillows are of the boys when they were toddlers, and Mother and I made them together all those years ago. I bring them out every fall because the black silhouettes work so beautifully with the Halloween decorations. It’s hard to believe the little boys on those pillows are now a college student and a high school senior!

I’ve always had a weakness for slightly unusual Halloween accessories, and this spooky hand is a perfect example. I found it years ago at The Uptown Acorn during a trip to New Orleans, and it has been making appearances around our house ever since. Add a little candy and a few seasonal touches, and an everyday corner suddenly feels ready for Halloween.

Our Frame TV is one of my favorite decorating tools because changing the artwork instantly changes the feel of the entire room. A moody Halloween painting is so much prettier than a big black screen! And the record player has been getting plenty of seasonal use with our pumpkin-shaped It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown record, along with The Haunted Mansion and The Nightmare Before Christmas. A little spooky background music makes everything more fun.

The animated Haunted Mansion books I found at Lowe’s have become another favorite. I can never resist a good Disney-inspired Halloween decoration, especially one that fits right in with the rest of my spooky collection. The little witch hats are much older treasures. I picked up inexpensive felt hats from the Target dollar bins years ago, dressed them up with ribbon and have been using them for the puppies ever since.

And then there are the family silhouettes. Poor things seem to lose their heads every Halloween! I made the dripping blood details with my Cricut, and they still make me laugh every time I see them. It’s such an easy way to turn something we already have into a Halloween decoration without making any permanent changes.

I do love a little traditional fall color mixed in with all the black and spooky decor. On the coffee table, a cheerful bouquet of autumn flowers keeps things from feeling too dark, while my skeleton hand adds just the right amount of Halloween mischief. I also put out a bowl of candy corn every year, which is possibly the safest candy to have in our house because I absolutely cannot stand it. Haha! A few seasonal magazines finish things off without having to buy anything new.

The haunted typewriter has found a home on the banquette, and I think it’s a perfect fit. This is another one of those decorations that has moved around the house over the years. I love finding new places for old favorites, especially now that our living room gets so much use for puzzles and games. The den has plenty of room for a few extra haunted treasures!

What I love most about decorating this room is that almost everything has been collected, made or enjoyed by our family over many years. It’s not a completely different look each October, and I wouldn’t want it to be. There’s something comforting about seeing the same familiar decorations return, even if a few of them are missing their heads!

And that brings us to the dead end of today’s tour! Thanks for creeping through the den with me.

Happy Halloween, y’all!
