There’s something about pulling out the Halloween decorations that makes me so happy! Our living room is home to some of my oldest and most treasured spooky pieces, and I love seeing them all together again each October. While the kitchen gets the cute Mickey treatment, this room leans a little more toward haunted mansion with crows, skeletons and a few ghostly surprises.

I’ve collected most of these decorations over the last twenty years, and at this point, Halloween wouldn’t feel quite right without them. I’m certainly not starting from scratch each season! A little rearranging and a few fresh touches are usually all it takes to make everything feel festive again.

My flock of black crows has taken up residence on the bookshelves once again. These poor things have seen better days after two decades of Halloween duty, but I just can’t seem to part with them. I suppose a slightly disheveled appearance is appropriate for a haunted house anyway!

The living room is open to our dining room and foyer, so you get a peek at the Halloween decorations from several different angles.

One of my favorite decorating tricks is changing the artwork on our Frame TV. I found this wonderfully moody witch portrait on Etsy, and it gives the entire room a haunted old-world feeling. I paired a gold snake candle holder with remote-controlled black candles on the coffee table. They add a little drama without requiring much effort, which is my favorite kind of decorating!

A Halloween cocktail station is always a fun addition when we’re entertaining. I love bringing out pretty glassware, a few seasonal accessories and a bottle of Williams Sonoma Witches’ Brew. It’s a simple way to make the sideboard feel festive, and everything is ready when friends stop by.

One of the decorations that always gets a reaction is our haunted radio from Grandin Road. It’s been part of our Halloween collection for ages and is especially fun when the trick-or-treaters come calling. I still wish it would turn on automatically when someone walks by, but I suppose even haunted electronics have their limitations. Haha!

And of course, the skeletons have returned! Our little skele-family seems perfectly comfortable lounging around the living room. Elsa keeps watch from her corner while Anna has claimed Skelly as her personal resting place. The resemblance to everyday life around here is pretty funny.

The bar gets a few Halloween touches too. I’ve always loved the seasonal wine bottles that appear in stores this time of year, especially the ones with beautifully spooky labels. They’re practically decorations all on their own!

If I had to choose one thing in this room that I would never part with, it would be our Haunted Mansion-inspired hologram portraits. We had these made at Memento Mori in Magic Kingdom years ago, back when guests could have their own spooky transformations captured. Disney no longer offers the experience, which makes them even more special to me. They are such a fun reminder of a family Disney memory, and our guests always get a kick out of them.

When we converted this space from a formal living room into something more comfortable and useful for our family, I never imagined how much time we’d spend here. It’s become one of our favorite places to gather, and I love that it can be dressed up for the holidays without losing that cozy, lived-in feeling.

Happy Halloween, y’all!
