Another senior year milestone is in the books! Whit’s last Wildcat Homecoming turned out to be such a fun evening, even if we had approximately 30 minutes to prepare for it. Haha!
He decided he was going to Homecoming about half an hour before his friends were meeting for pictures. No haircut, no outfit planned and certainly no tie. We made a mad dash through the three boys’ closets in our house and somehow managed to piece together a suit that matched. We were just happy he decided to go!
He met up with a really nice group of friends for pictures, and we enjoyed visiting with the other parents before the kids headed off to Olive Garden for dinner. He reported back that he’d had a wonderful night, and that made me so happy. Sometimes the best memories are the ones that come together at the very last minute!
After pictures, Honey and I met up with three other couples whose kids are friends with Whit. Our dinner table was divided between Auburn and Georgia fans, which made for an especially entertaining evening with the big game underway. We had such a fun time cheering the Tigers on to their win! As soon as the game ended, John FaceTimed us from the stadium in Athens to celebrate. Made my heart so happy.
Ohhhhh… and the night before hoco, Whit received his official early acceptance to Auburn! I can hardly let myself dream of him saying yes. Haha! Big brother has certainly been applying the pressure, but Honey and I are being very careful to let him make this decision for himself.
All in all, it was a sensational evening for the W family. A happy Homecoming for Whit, a big Auburn win and a wonderful night with friends.
It’s hard to believe we’re already checking off these senior year milestones. I feel like we were just celebrating his first days as a Wildcat, and here we are at his last Homecoming. War Eagle and Go Wildcats!
