A Gallery Wall for Brother

As revealed on Instagram a little while back, John’s gallery wall is up.  I took a wee break from the room after that, but project: brother’s room is moving full force ahead as of today.

Old Try sent me the Red Ryder print for Christmas last year and I knew the moment I opened it that it would live in here.  I positively adore their work and have prints in the baby’s room, the boy’s bath and the basement!

In addition to old and current photos, I’ve framed a vintage map of Georgia, our house portraits, a special monogrammed bib, a silhouette, the lyrics to Moon River, his John Derian plate, and some rules I made for always being a Southern gentleman.

I planned the wall using the same method as in the baby’s room last year.  I traced each frame onto our roll of art paper and cut it out.  I then used painter’s tape to play around with the design until I got it right.  It’s by no means quick and easy, but it is guaranteed to save your wall from looking like cottage cheese with a bunch of stray nail holes.

All of the frames are from the Ikea Ribba collection.  What did we do before that place?

  1. I am looking to do a similar gallery picture wall and the compromise with my hubby is that the frames have to match (haha I was going shabby chic look at first)and several people have said get IKEA frames! Can you get them online? Looks fabulous by the way!

  2. It looks SOOO nice. Out of blond curiosity what is the connection to Moon River? Love that piece in there!

You did a great job putting it all together – I bet he is thrilled. xo Diana

  3. I subscribe by email to many blogs, and most days I am so busy that i just delete most of them, but I ALWAYS read yours and I always love it. Having been born & raised in Atlanta, I am pretty sure that ASAP stands for "as Southern as possible".

Please nudge us with a reminder on your blog when you make the "Southern Gentlemen" rules available on etsy as I will definitely be buying one. Maybe I will hang it in the powder room where we already have a plaque with the "Southern Belle Rules". Thanks for giving me my daily dose of the south, which I surely appreciate since I was transplanted up north almost 2 yrs ago!

  4. i'm having the hardest time deciding on the gallery wall layout in my guest room I've been working on for a year(!) now. since it's my son's old room I'm trying to use a few things of his from his childhood and the Southern Gentleman rules would fit in perfectly…I can't wait to get one!

  5. Love it! I especially like the "Southern Gentleman Rules". I'm thinking that would make a lovely gift for a friend's grandson. Would you please let me know when they are available?

How did you print the lyrics for Moon River? The words look pale on the colored paper and it's so pretty!
