The house is impressive architecturally and is truly like living in a glass tree house. However, overall the house was too modern for me and the colors are pretty much opposite from the ones I’m generally drawn to. That being said, I can still appreciate how lovely and well done every square inch of the home truly is, even though the style and architecture is different from my own. Now, on to the tour…
Coming into the house, the foyer serves as the center point connecting the bedroom wing to the living wing and you can see straight through to the outdoor kitchen and patio.
Linda Woodrum has been the dream home designer of choice for quite a few years and we were giddy to see her back again. And, as usual, all of the furnishings come from Ethan Allen. Yes, please! I loved the slice of pine used as found art in the space, as well as the variety of cozy seating. I wasn’t crazy about the pops of yellow, but that’s just me. (This coming from the girl with the yellow basement.)
The kitchen is right off of the living room in the crazy open floor plan. Of course, the decor is just seamless and transitions perfectly from one space to the next. Again, not digging the yellow, but would take the lot of appliances in a heart beat.
The dining room is at the very end of the wing. I liked the rug and mixture of chairs in this space.
The master bedroom seems so dreamy and relaxing, but once again the yellow just wasn’t my thing. Now, y’all know I would relish every square inch of that master bath. I mean, given the lovely blue space I currently have this would be a dream.
The guest bedroom was tiny, but nice with it’s high ceilings, and I loved the mercury glass in the bathroom. I noticed that Linda hung pendant type lights on either side of the vanity in pretty much every bathroom.
I haven’t met a bunk room I didn’t love, and this one was no exception. It was actually inspired by the new Muppets movie. How crazy is that (must be a sponsor of some sort?!?). That red stripe rug is nothing short of perfection. And each bunk had its own flat screen mounted on the wall. My littles would be livin high on the hog in this space.
The family room was located in the bedroom wing of the house and had a fabulous little balcony and gigantic tv. And while the style was again a little off for me, I could definitely get some good relaxing done in that room!
So, that pretty much wraps up my little annual review. Let’s just say, I’m not frantically entering to win with every possible email address like I was last year. You can see many many many more pictures at HGTV, and the next airing of the show is on January 10 in case you missed it! John Gidding is the host and, well, let’s just say he’s easy on the eyes :-)

I manage our local Home Builders Association, which offers a Parade of Homes every Spring. You should check ours out and come do some furniture shopping in Hickory. http://www.hickoryhbaparade.com. Also – since Parade is a National thing, I am sure your local HBA might offer one. Google Georgia HBA and see if there is one in your hometown. They are free to the public which is awesome!!! I love looking at homes :)
I agree 100% with you. Though I LOVE the setting, the home is not me. I find that they are getting a little too modern on us. I remember watching HGTV all the time. I hardly watch anymore. I guess they may be going after a different demographic. Who knows? I watch more BRAVO these days and Law & Order marathons. xo
I'm not digging those yellow pops either, not my taste. But I do like the glass tree house feel and totally the locale. The bunk beds are pretty sweet! Such a fun family tradition!
I'm like Ron. I seldom watch HGTV anymore. I still miss Kitty Bathlomew. Is that bad? One of the things I like about this house os the yellow, but it's a favorite color of mine. Needless to say, if I win , I'll take it!!
I so agree, the modern thing is NOT me at all and I have NO yellow in y house. LOVE the setting but I would have made it a cozt mountain retreat. That's just me:) Thanks for the tour!!!!

I agree with your review, Amanda. And Ron, I hardly ever watch HG anymore either. Mostly it now has just house hunting sorts of shows. And I just looked at my Kitty Bartholomew book the other day and thought about giving it to the Humane Society's store.
I dislike this house so much (it's just not my style) that I am not even giving it a very good go entering to win. I feel like someone else should win. I would have mowed someone down with a golf cart when the Kiawah house was up for grabs. This one just doesn't do it for me. I love the upholstered chairs at the dining table. But, yellow is not my thing. Even though one of my favorite weddings to plan ever was yellow and navy.
i agree, not crazy about the yellow- seems a bit off with the style and setting of the house. but oh my those bathrooms are nice! and a flat screen tv for each bunk?! i would never want to get out of bed LOL.
