Uptown Acorn Home Tour {Guest Post}

First things first, today I’m wishing Sister the happiest of birthdays!  She’s catching up to me :-)

Now, I am beyond thrilled to have bestie R of the gorgeous blog Uptown Acorn over today for Dixie Delights’ first guest post ever!  Enjoy the tour of his lovely New Orleans home and then hop on over to his blog to enter to win a lovely seagrass and rope frame.  And without further ado, meet Ron…

Hi Dixie Delights fans,

I was elated to be asked to guest post on the exquisite and well written blog, Dixie Delights. Today, I’d like to share some of my downstairs home tour with you. I hope you will pop over to Uptown Acorn and become a follower if you have not already. I am a lover of anything Southern and anything coastal, so I would call my style as Southern Coastal comfort.

Take a trip with me as I open my front door…

The Parlor
Welcome to the front parlor. The front parlor is where we meet after dinner for post dinner cocktails and conversation. The front parlor is a stylish mix of new and vintage finds.

Stair Parlor
One of my favorite pieces is central to this room – a vintage clock and draftsman table base converted into a table. I adore it.

Dining Room
The rear of the house is an open floor plan and contains the dining room, den, breakfast room, and kitchen. The dining area is great for dinners with friends and family. The best part of dining for me is not the cooking but the styling of my table.

The Den
The Den is where J and I spend most of our time watching TV and visiting with guests. The den is a comfortable mix of elegance and coastal touches. I am in love with the bird oil behind the sofa.

The Breakfast Room
When we are not seated and eating at the breakfast bar, J and I eat our meals at the breakfast table. I am also proud of the recent update and redo of my armoire turned dry bar (You can check that out here!).

The Kitchen
J and I are not big cooks, as we like to grill outdoors, but the kitchen is large enough and has ample storage space. The space would be the first to totally renovate if money was no object.

I hope you have enjoyed this tour of my downstairs (sans powder room under stairs). Stay tuned in weeks to come as I share with you my backyard courtyard and upstairs.

Happy Touring, y’all!

Thanks again, Amanda!

  1. What a beautiful home. Love the "entry parlor" and was so happy to see how it was decorated. We just purchased a 1896 Victorian beach house that has the same front space…now I know what to call it!! Happy Monday and love the guest post…

  2. Amazing styling! I love how all the pillows complement their chairs, and I must say pairing the heron pillow with the animal print chair deserves a huge bravo.
Completely smitten with the towel hook in the bar photo, as well as the hat hooks in the entryway.
And that mirror is truly breathtaking.
Well done with choosing such marvelous pieces, then flawlessly incorporating them! You should be so proud of the home you've made.

  5. Thanks Amanda for allowing me to "guest feature" my downstairs! And thanks to all your friends and followers for the nice comments. xo

  6. Love the idea of a guest feature, and what a great first one to have! The stair parlor is gorgeous.

Also, love that you're reading Andy Cohen's book. I've had it sitting on my Kindle for weeks waiting to be read. You have inspired me to finally start it, Ron!
