Musings

It’s been a good long while since a wrote a musings post!  First things first, I started my day with a walk around the neighborhood and coffee on the porch and all seems right in my world!!!!!!!!!  My littles both start fall sports today – lacrosse for John and baseball for Whit.  I’m so excited for new seasons of adventure and I’m especially proud of John for diving in on a new sport.  With our rough start to school last year he lost interest in things he loved (baseball) and starting something new was completely out of the question.  What a difference a year makes!!!!!!!!!

I found this gem of a Coke bottle when digging through some boxes at work.  This was the first special edition bottle I ever collected as a Coke employee!

I know they aren’t fancy, but we adore our Jeeps.  Particularly Honey’s.

There’s just something about the wind whipping through your hair… especially when it’s thick and full and blonde.

This is a sight for sore eyes.  John reading.  At the pool.  While his friends play in the water.  I never thought I’d see the day.

The berries right now are just outrageously good.  I could eat them drizzled with honey and granola all.day.long.

Did I tell y’all about that time my littles were begging me to bring this home from the pet store?  Helloooooo…. we just got a DOG for crying out loud.  The funny part was that they didn’t read the tag to know it was a rat.  When I told John I was afraid he would vomit on the floor.  How is he not my bestie M’s child?  If you know her, you will understand.

Speaking of vomit on the floor… here’s another gem of a story for y’all.  A few weeks ago I was on the phone with (the other) bestie M trying to make carpool arrangements.  The littles and Elsa were tearing around the kitchen and making such a ruckus that I couldn’t hear myself think, much less talk on the phone.  So, I retreated to the sweltering garage for literally three minutes to firm up our plans.  I come back inside to this scene…  Elsa pooped on the floor.  Whit stepped in it with his bare feet and kept running circles around the kitchen.  And John THREW UP ON THE FLOOR because “it was all so gross.”  Y’all, I couldn’t make this stuff up.  (Here’s the culprit herself giving that innocent “who? me?” look that she’s so good at.)

We had another leak from the awful master bathroom.  I cannot wait for the day that we have the time and money to blow that room off the side of the house and start over.  Luckily Honey was able to completely fix this one himself.  He repaired the pipe and the drywall.  He’s handy, that Honey.

I can’t be the only boy mom that has Nerf darts stuck on her second floor windows.  It’s been here for a solid three weeks.  Truth be told, I smile every time I see it.  The neighborhood boys have been having massive nerf wars after school, and it makes me so happy to see them all running around in the yard doing nothing more than being kids.

I’ll leave y’all to your Saturdays.  Make them count!

  1. Musings posts are always my faves! So glad you’re feeling back up to par! Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Children are the best aren’t they, no matter how you’re feeling they can always make you smile and laugh. I’m so glad to see your boys seem to be having a lovely start to the year. X

  3. So happy to see you’re life is getting back to normal. I would have to be institutionalized if my kids wanted a pet rat, it’s much wiser to have Miss Elsa, messes and all. Sorry for the leaky bathroom, I need our master bath redone too. After my emergency abdominal surgery just a few days before yours, my surgeon wrote me a post op prescription for no house work, particularly cleaning bathrooms and a master bath renovation. My husband was thrilled. Funny surgeon, too bad he wouldn’t foot the bill for it. Have a fun weekend and great upcoming week!

  4. This kind of makes me want to gag, but in high school, I had a friend who had pet rats…she did all of this research on those types of animals (or rodents?) and apparently, rats are cleaner and tend to themselves better than hamsters, gerbils and the like, and are social, playful, love to be held, can learn tricks and rarely bite…hers was named Princess. Im not a fan of any of the above, but definitely an interesting animal to read up on!
