Whit has a little friend named Wyatt that has just been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, DSRCT. Known as the “incredible hulk” around town, he’s a seven year old wrestler and baseball player, and has one of the most precious faces you’ve ever seen. Since his diagnosis, our community has rallied around him and his family. One little thing that he absolutely loves is seeing people “throw up the W” in support of him. In addition to his friends, family and local sports teams, he’s getting support from everyone from Jeff Foxworthy to Robin Meade to Nancy Grace. His very favorites are from professional athletes, as you can imagine, and he’s getting a TON of them. We’re talking people like Emmitt Smith, Matt Ryan, Greg Maddox, Marcus Mariota and Allen Hurns.
Here’s my ask… I’m wondering if any of YOU have any sort of contact to have the following guys send a picture “throwing the W” in support of Wyatt. Specifically, Steph Curry, JJ Watt, Odell Beckham, LeBron James, Mike Trout, and Bryce Harper. His dad seems to think that a picture from any of these guys would just make his day… and I do think he has a point :-) If you think you could help facilitate this with any of these athletes (or really ANY celebrity, athlete or team, shoot me an email (amanda@dixiedelightsonline) or post it directly to the #wywystrong facebook page!! It’s such a very small thing that brings a moment of joy and a great big smile to a really brave kid.

I am so sorry to hear when any child faces something like this. While I don’t have any celebrity contacts, I am sure one of your readers will. How wonderful that you can use this blog as an outlet to brighten Wyatt’s day!

I live in Akron and have contact within the Cavs organization and the Q. I will reach out to my contacts and see if we can get Lebron to give Wyatt a shout out. I also just saw Lebron at the movie theater so he is always around the town too. Prayers for that little guy and his family!
My son had brain cancer and was a huge sports fan. It is really easy to get something like this for this Wyatt. My son was in Children’s Hospital for 11 months. The first place to start would be the Social Worker or Child Life Specialist on the unit he is in. They can do so much for these children. Also, writing a letter to the sports team and asking. They all go out of their way for children fighting cancer. My son’s favorite team was the Los Angels Angels. They sent him so much stuff and he loved wrestling. WWF sent him a huge box full of stuff that he loved. He also got front row seats at the WWF Wrestlemania. My Aunt wrote a letter and they sent everything. My son lost his his battle but not without a huge fight. I will keep this sweet boy in my prayers.
