From Atlantic to Pacific

Okay, so you know when something makes so much sense in your head and then it just doesn’t translate on paper?  Well, I’m afraid that’s my Christmas card this year.  Ha!

I was going for the whole Perry Como Home for the Holidays thing…

Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays
‘Cause no matter how far away you roam
When you pine for the sunshine of a friendly gaze
For the holidays you can’t beat home, sweet home
I met a man who lives in Tennessee
And he was headin’ for
Pennsylvania and some homemade pumpkin pie
From Pennsylvania folks are trav’lin’ down
To Dixie’s sunny shore
From Atlantic to Pacific, gee,
The traffic is terrific!
Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays
‘Cause no matter how far away you roam
If you want to be happy in a million ways
For the holidays you can’t beat home, sweet home

… but the traffic line just didn’t fit.  And  I’m thinking most people might not know the song all the way to that stanza (verse?).  And then Sister says “I love the back of your card”.  Well, I’m thinking it was all lost in translation.  But it seemed cute in my head given our travels this year.

No matter, we are sending very merry Christmas wishes from our home to yours this holiday season.  Thank you ALL for your love, support, interaction and friendship here on my little corner of the internet.  It means the world to me <3

Merry Christmas!

  1. I totally get it! But I have to say… when I first saw the title, I thought you might be doing an early reveal on this year’s ‘do’ and planning for that cross country train trip! ?

Love this card – what a fun-filled year y’all have had! xo

    1. haha! I DO want to do that. Bucket list for sure. Next year we are headed to Tennessee, skiing and Disney (shocking). xoxo

  2. Amanda,

I totally understand it, I love it! I am a Christmas nut so the song is very familiar to me, plus Perry Como is from Canonsburg, the “next town over” so the song is popular in our area.

    Merry Christmas!

  3. It is super cute and totally makes sense with your travels this year. I started singing along right when I saw it. Merry Christmas! I am getting the most compliments on your sweet gift tags :)

  4. Waking up over coffee right now on the Pacific, the song rang out as soon as I saw the front and I love how your colors have such a retro vibe. It will be easier to assess when it arrives in my mailbox. ;-) Merry Christmas Week! You and Sister are a pair!

I have been wanting to thank you for the bow video. I have always hated having to make a knot before the bow, as it ruins the moment for the recipient to have to pause and struggle with it. Your tip to simply loop under the center an extra time is nothing short of brilliant for this bow gal! That, my friend, is a gift to know! Leave it to an engineer! :-)

  5. makes sense to me, but others who don’t know the song might think you’re moving west!! A for effort, though.

  6. Totally got it, too. And, also started singing right away. Love that song, Perry and your card – front and back! Merry, merry!

  7. Beautiful card sharing the joys you had this year as a family! ? Merriest of Christmases to you and your men! ☺️

  8. I too get it, in fact now I can’t get the song out of my head. ☺️
Hope your Christmas is filled with love, joy, peace and many blessings.

  9. Don’t fret!! I totally got it right away!!! I think it’s such a classic song that most people know! Love it! Happy Holidays!!!!

  10. I totally got it! I actually started singing that song in my head as soon as I saw your card. I love it. Very clever.

  11. It totally got it! I was singing the song in my head as soon as I saw the front of your card and before I scrolled down to see the back. I think its very cute! But I feel the same way you feel every year we do a card. In my mind its adorable when I’m making them and then when they come, I say to myself, why did I put so many pictures on there? Oh well. Yours turned out cute regardless. Merry Christmas! Thanks for sharing your precious family with us!

  12. Beautiful card and I totally got the reference to the song – well executed!
    Merry Christmas!
    Enjoy this blessed holiday weekend.
