Rose & Crown in Epcot’s World Showcase

UPDATED REVIEW HERE
Today we’re headed to the charming streets of the United Kingdom in Epcot’s World Showcase.

Low crowds mean soaking up all of the lovely details, delightful shops and stunning gardens.

Honey was working this day during our vacation, and the boys were sleeping in and watching cartoons. When a block of time opened in his calendar, we decided to book a date lunch at a new place for us… Rose & Crown! Can you believe that in all of our Disney trips we’ve never been here?! It’s a perennial favorite and one that consistently receives great reviews.

We dined right around opening at 11:30 AM. We were the second guests to be seated in the dining room, and you can see there is plenty of room for social distancing. I took a few minutes to check out all of the art and wall hangings, that made me feel like we were dining in a British countryside pub!

Since we had both skipped breakfast, we were ravenous. Our meal started with the United Kingdom Cheese Platter, a Golden Imperial Pint for Honey and a Cider & Blackcurrant Imperial Pint for yours truly. When in Rome…. er… the UK. :-)

We chose two classic dishes for our entrees and split them. I love doing that!! The fish and chips are Rose and Crown’s signature dish. It is served with tartar and malt vinegar. Yum!! Reminded me so much of the semester I spent at Oxford. The bangers and mash were equally as tasty and, to be honest, were my favorite of the two.

In addition to inside seating, you can also dine on the lovely patio overlooking the World Showcase Lagoon.

We loved our lunch here and will absolutely be back! The boys were pretty bummed that they skipped once they saw what we had and heard our rave reviews.

Walt Disney World Reopening

Disney World reopened on July 11 and we spent nine days back in the parks in July. We were absolutely blown away by the thoughtful, practical and comprehensive precautions Disney has in place to safely welcome guests and cast members. I don’t have all of the words to convey how special it felt to be back. We laughed, we played, we ate too much, and we felt a level of happiness we hadn’t had in too long. I can assure you, magic is here!

If you’d like to see videos, photos and my explanations of both safety and magic at Walt Disney World, head over to the Dixie Travels Instagram. Once on my profile page, look for the circles called “highlights”. Safety protocols are primarily captured under “wdw reopens” and then you can click on the circle for each park to see the magic! I have also chronicled our experiences in these blog posts:

Most aspects of planning a Disney vacation look different and now, more than ever, it is crucial to have the most current, up to date information based on personal experience to plan your vacation!  When the time is right for your family to travel, I’d be honored to be YOUR advisor. Magic is here!

  1. This is our favorite restaurant at Disney and we go every visit. Our favorite thing to do is sit out on the patio. My mom always orders a new, fun drink and we almost all get the fish and chips. But I am with you about the Bangers and Mash. Makes me wish I could go right now!

  2. The Rose and the Crown is a favorite of my husbands and he always wants to go there for the fish and chips. Isnt it funny the little details you notice at Disney when its less crowded? The decor in restaurants and shops for one.
