The First “Actual” Day of 6th Grade

Oh, happy day! Middle school has returned in person and we are thrilled!

We kicked things off with our first day of school breakfast…. round two! This was the first, and hopefully the last, time we trade in school busses and apples for spiders, ghosts and jack ‘o lanterns.

I asked Whit for one adjective to describe this day and dubbed it the “first actual day of 6th grade.” He was a real trooper through two months of virtual school. I loved hearing his take on each and every teacher and the whole in person experience, versus what he thought it would all be like. For example, Mrs. D is “really tiny in real life” and Mr. W is “so much funnier than I ever knew.”

It was almost surreal to have my baby be the first one to resume some semblance of normalcy! John and Honey are both still home. We sure do miss having him home after seven months.

My first order of business was reclaiming my office. It is strangely quiet for the first time in forever.

I hope your kids are rocking this school year, in whatever form or fashion it has unfolded. John is chomping at the bit to get to high school for the first time!
