Celebrating Christmas 2020 {CeeCee’s Nutcracker}

CeeCee’s ballet studio held their annual Nutcracker show this year and it made my whole month! She’s rehearsed her role as a Gumdrop in the Land of the Sweets for months now. I felt fortunate and grateful to be the only guest able to attend in person, outside of her immediate family, with the safety protocols in place! CeeCee was a star on stage. She nailed her part and you could tell she had a huge smile under her mask the entire time. I will be forever grateful to Sister for including me in moments like this. <3

Her ballet studio modified the performance down to one hour, to have nobody touching (no partner dancing either), spacing on stage, all dancers in masks at all times, no sharing costumes, temperature checks, performing IN their dance studio and having very few seats sold for each show. They also offered a live stream of every show, and my parents were thrilled to watch her in that from home! Growing up a dancer, I know how important it is to these kids to dance and to be on stage. Kudos to everyone for reimagining this so that the show could safely go on for these dancers! It was marvelous and felt more special than ever to see artists at work.

I usually bring CeeCee flowers and a small gift for her ballet recital and performances. When I went to Trader Joe’s for flowers I fell in love with the mini trees. CeeCee loves taking care of things, crafting and just being a little mama and I knew she would adore having her own live Christmas tree. I monogrammed the bucket with white vinyl (Cricut) and added the big red bow.

I found the Clara ornament at Simply Jessica Marie and it’s gorgeous! The tree came with the little ornament clips and I added a spool of ribbon.

I slipped it all back in the cello sleeve for gift giving.

After the show we went out for a celebratory lunch. Sister had not eaten in a restaurant outside of Disney since March and we carefully researched a place that would be convenient to her studio and feel safe. They did a phenomenal job.

CeeCee set straight to work at lunch decorating her tree. I forgot to bring scissors (lol) to cut the ribbon so when they dropped me off at home she came inside to finish. Look how cute!

At the end of our day we all agreed Nutcracker 2020 goes down in the books as one of our “best days ever”!

  1. Oh my gosh, your gifts were so perfect from the pink nutcracker, to the Clara ornament to the live tree. All of these are keepsakes that she can treasure for many years to come. Just wondering if the live tree can be transplanted in their yard at the end of the season? This way CeCe can watch it grow through the years. Congratulations CeCe on your wonderful performance and overcoming all the challenges this year to put on a great show!
