A Red, White & Blue Welcome for Flag Day

There isn’t a month or season that I love the outside of our home more than at the Fourth of July. I try to get mine up before flag day (today!) and leave them up through July.

I also love walking our neighborhood this time of year, with so many homes flying the stars and stripes, curbs lined with flags and buntings galore.

I updated my front porch buntings this year and love how they turned out! I used two smaller flags, and one larger one in the center in a layered look.

I also added swags along the upper porch railing, something I’ve been wanting to do for a few years now! It was quite the ordeal getting up there, but I am very pleased with the effort. These are from Grandin Road and I used two of them.

Note my dead boxwood – this is the second one that has died in this exact spot. It is not sitting in water and I’ve asked a few landscapers with no luck on figuring out what is happening. You can see how big and thriving its mate is on the left side!

The darling firecracker door hanger is from Bronwyn Hanahan. I love all of her pieces for every occasion throughout the year and wish she still made them. I’ve been putting flags in my ferns ever since I saw Martha Stewart do it over 16 years ago.

Of course the dogs got matching bows!

On our seldom used side entry, I added a new bunting to the porch line. I used to do a large one along the railing, but it was too faded after about 14 years here!

At the friend’s entry, I added a matching bunting. I don’t know why I never thought to do this before!

I have my monogram anchor hanging here too.  You can see all the details for how I made it, many years ago, in THIS POST

We have the pool, courtyard and cabana decked the the nines as well, but I didn’t have time to take pics today. Coming soon!

Happy flag day! God Bless America!

    1. Love it so much!

How did you hand the buntings? Command hooks?

God bless America and may He richly bless you and your family too!

      1. We have small hooks up there that we use for Christmas garland and were able to use those for the bunting too!

  1. Your front porch and neighborhood look absolutely festive and patriotic for Flag Day! The layered look of the flags on your porch and the swags along the upper railing create a lovely display. The firecracker door hanger is a charming touch, and the flags in your ferns add a classic touch inspired by Martha Stewart. It’s adorable that your dogs have matching bows too! Adding a new bunting to your side entry and a matching one at the friend’s entry was a great idea.
Overall, your home truly captures the spirit of patriotism and celebration. Well done!
