Today put the “a” in “adult adventure” as we embarked on a Scotch whisky experience, visited Blair Castle, and wrapped up our day with a marvelous dinner and Scottish storyteller.

Depart Edinburgh for the Highlands
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we were off on our journey to Inverness and The Highlands. Adventures by Disney makes changing resorts and locations a breeze. You simply leave your packed luggage outside of your room at the designated time and they magically whisk it from one room to the next. No lugging, hauling, dragging or lifting required. While Disney handled all of the logistics, we sat bat, relaxed and enjoyed the motor coach ride through the glorious scenery of Scotland.
Scotch Whisky Experience Tour & Tasting
No trip to Edinburgh is complete without a stop at the Scotch Whisky Experience, and OF COURSE this was on our itinerary! Here, we got a “whisky barrel ride” through the production process of Scotch whisky, an introduction to the aromas in whisky and then tried our choice of a dram of regional single malt and also tasted blended Scotch whisky. (There was a soft drink option.) The tasting room was absolutely sensational. Honey would have loved this! Slainte!
Lunch at Amber Restaurant
We were ravenous for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed an authentic taste of Scotland created with the very best local produce at Amber Restaurant.
Blair Castle Visit
En route to The Highlands, we made a stop at Blair Castle. 700 years of history are held in these hallowed halls! We had access to over 30 rooms which house centuries of Scottish cultural history in architectural design, period furnishings, family portraits, landscape paintings and a colorful military history. There was also a special exhibition called Castle Couture going on. It was amazing to see some of the Atholl family’s most spectacular garments from the 18th and 19th century in the very rooms where they wore them. It was almost as if you could imagine them standing right in front of you!
Arrive at Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness
As our Adventure Guides checked us in to Kingsmill Hotel in Inverness, we set to exploring our new home for the next four nights.
Dinner and Scottish Storytelling
Our first evening in Inverness was spent enjoying dinner with our fellow Adventurers at the Kingsmills Hotel. The evening delightfully concluded with a local Scottish storyteller and was a true highlight of the trip! We were just captivated by his account of the Jacobite rising, their state of the art weaponry, learning all the details of his attire and even learning the difference in tartan (the print) and plaid (the fabric) and how to tie a plaid into a kilt!
