I’ve been trying my hardest to hold on to every minute of this summer but, alas, it’s August and back to school in the South! I’ve packed up the flags and fish and flower door hangers that were remnants of summer and pulled out the school things.
As you can see, my crepe myrtle has gone wild! I need to have it cut back this fall. After a brief hiatus last year to swap out the school bus for the grad cap, things are looking more like they have for the past 13 years. :-)
Nobody here has been a bus rider for 4 years but I will use this for many Augusts to come. I miss those mornings where the neighborhood kids would all play basketball in my driveway while waiting on the bus. Elsa would run wild.
Over at the garage door I have a cute apple. Both the bus and the apple are from Bronwyn Hanahan on etsy. I’ve had most of my Bronwyn Hanahan door hangers for a number of years and all have held up wonderfully.
Are you ready for another school year? I have very mixed feelings, since one is flying the nest.

Most schools in central VA don’t start until around August 19th but my mother’s neighbor’s daughter will start her senior year at Regent University tomorrow. I know this year will be much different as John leaves for college.
