I mentioned the other day how I debated a disco ball purchase for a whole year. I try reaaaaaaally hard not to buy things I’ll eventually discard and a disco ball certainly seems to fit the bill. After sitting in my amazon cart since December 2023, I finally caved.
They were the centerpiece of my New Years feast table and I figure I’ll enjoy them here for a couple of weeks before moving them back to my office.
They reflect joy all over the room!
Since it was evening when I took the photos of our New Year feast, I wanted to share the photos from earlier in the day.
The table cloth is an old white matelasse spread. I use it here often and it washes up well.
I set the table with our Butler’s Pantry plates, Waterford Millennium Flutes and Lismore goblets.
I gave myself gorgeous white linen napkins with a metallic gold monogram for Christmas three years ago. I used my gold bamboo napkin rings and tied gold leaf ribbon in a bow to the tops of them.
I have had the place cards for years – I laminated them and we reuse them often.
I ran a few votives and disco ball ornaments down the center and added a vase of flowers.
Each year we pick a toast from the Rising to the Occasion book. It is our tradition that we each also offer a toast for the coming year based on which glass we got out of the millennium set.
You can find all of the sources I have here:
- 8″ disco ball | 12″ disco ball
- Flying Wish Paper
- White Double Face Satin Ribbon
- Gold Leaf Ribbon
- Rising to the Occasion Book
- Bedspread (used as tablecloth / similar)
- Large bells
- Metallic Gold Monogram Napkins
- Mercury Glass Votives
- Votive Candles & Fave Scented Candles Japanese Quince from Seda France
- Lenox Butler’s Pantry Plates
- Waterford Millennium Champagne Flutes
I keep saying I will enjoy this look for a couple of week but who am I kidding?! The boys are already planning game night! We live here! :-)

How beautiful and elegant. I especially love the monogrammed napkins. They are lovely.
I can imagine how beautiful that must look at night with candles and chandelier! AND I love your wall paper. I’ve considered the same one in brown or green for my own dining room! Happy NewYear. Encouraging our son to reach out to you for a Disney cruise. You did an amazing job for us with his two little girls a year ago!
I’d love to help!!
I really loved your New Years tablescape and the disco balls were the perfect compliment. I had some small disco ball ornaments that I had bought some years back and used them for my New Years tablescape. I am like you; I hate to put too much investment for decor that is short-lived. For some reason, I have been slow going taking down my inside Christmas decor this year. My husband did get all the outside taken down and I switched out my Christmas wreath to a monogrammed snowflake hanger that can stay up through January. Just wondering if you will be doing your annual “Junk-Out”?
I haven’t decided yet! I’m not really feeling that things are too junky at the moment :-) I do need to polish my silver!
I love the disco/mirror ball idea on your table! Brilliant….your table is beautiful, sparkly and festive! I have one and it has not seen the light of day in years! I can’t wait to design my dining table around it! Thank you for sharing your ideas and beautiful home with us!
Happy New Year to you!
